Sounds to me like you are worrying to much about very small amounts of BHP (which is less than PS) whatever you got without the exhaust is irrelevant, you can't drive it like that. The X pipe regardless of ho mad you think the design is won't make that much difference.

You took your son out and you both agree that overall it's faster and has more power???? I'm lot after that. I think you want more than it can give. They were 418 stock. The MRC map gives more response but not necessarily more power. It's 11 years old. 410 seems fine.

ok maybe you miss understand, i am going by what MRC told me, they are not happy with it at 411 with a stage 2 either ? so its not only my opinion but theres too, also from 481 nm down to 411nm isnt a small figure to me, maybe to you and thats fine, MY ISSUE IS, paying out over £1700 to only get a car not even standard spec, sorry im a little pissed off about that, and again its not only my opinion but also MRC but thanks for your input fella

Ok ok ok!!!i understand. If MRC are not happy either then let them crack on and find out why is wrong. Post back once they have found the issue.

Should feel completely different to normal mode when you hit the S button and engage sport mode - instant throttle response.

That's the biggest gain from the MRC stage 2; how it drives in sport mode.

When I ditched the res I replaced it with straight pipes which aren't at all restrictive but still have main cats and back boxes.

To be honest I'm not sure how much you'd notice with 25ps. I found most of the gain came from the map when u had it done. And really it doesn't take long for these engines to be back in the high 300's with carbon build up anyway.
Don't think he has had pre-cats done though?

I got 428 with stage 2, de-flap. Standard exhaust and standard intake.

Might sound silly but is this crank power? how do you get an accurate crank power figure?
Or are you guys refering to "pulling" as horse power at all 4 wheels.

WOW, what a few weeks ive had,

so let me update you all, i appreciate this may bore some but at least its helpful knowledge to others for future reference (maybe)

so the garage that did my x pipe, happily and free of charge re built the x pipe so that they just kissed, as a new owner and not knowing too much, i also asked to have the two cats totally removed that are next to the flexi pipes WHY? well the two flexi pipes have seen better days and had to be replaced, and as the two cats are next to these then why not it could only help with extra flow surely? So i did have to fork out more money sadly. I was told and only as a guide that each cat should give me and extra 5 to 6 bhp that ontop of the new x pipe and flexi pipes should then help my issues (i can only go by what each garage tell me, as i say im new to rs4 cars and not as knowledgable as you lot please remember that)

Anyway today was D day, back on the rolling road and absolutely no change what so ever, not even 1 bhp and the timing is retarded again ?????????

I BLOODY GIVE UP SERIOUSLY

So i spoke to both Doug at mrc and my man at emp, emp said from day one the x pipe would make no difference anyway and they were right in fairness, they said the only solution is to remove this exhaust and custom build one for £1200 now i have spent enough allready trying to resolve all this and wasnt best pleased with this option especially as i have just paid out £180 per flexi pipe.

Doug then let me drive his car to try it out, firstly i have to say the sound is amazing and puts mine to shame, anyway he then offered me a deal at around the same price as the other garage, this being to de-cat the front remaiming cats, or de gut them something like that as im not sure on the exact term, then from the down pipe back a full but used milltek exhaust system that he has in storage and then re- tuned / adjusted on the rolling road. The only thing i had against this was it has the H pipe and not the x pipe which i prefere but i have researched this and there is only around 2bhp between the two anyway but the H pipe will sound the same if not better than Dougs car (his words)

So i am assuming you will all tell me i made the wrong choice but i chose to let MRC do there thing and then see whats what, as they said without the exhaust it was running just over 430bhp, and 12 months ago standard 421bhp, the only change i made performance wise was the exhaust x pipe ?????? so on that basis it can only be exhaust issues dont you think? even if its the back boxes that are crap, i dont know i can only go by what i am told by each garage as i am stuck in the middle.

Doug did spend alot of time with me this morning explaining and showing me the cats pre and post gutted ect ect so hats off to him and i also got to drive his car so what can i say ??? my car is still only on 411 after clean and remapp and im still not a happy bunny but lets see.

Just to add, since the remapp the gear ratio is amazing, i used to floor the car and hit the limiter too fast, know the gears go on longer especially 3rd upwards, on the mororway i cruised upto 150mph in 5th and was only at around 6500 / 7000 rpm, not trying to be big, was just trying out the car on a clear motorway thats all, i backed off at that point though.

any thoughts welcome please

just to add, no matter what, thats it, im done with spending on this car, one other thing, do you all use v-power? as im now told maybe the tesco one is better as shell is franchised and you dont really know the quality of the fuel going in if you know what i mean ? again only going on what im told

Map can't adjust gear ratios. It can raise the rev limit.

Mate - You're worrying waaaaay too much about a few HP (that you're not going to notice anyway).

Once carbon builds up it's going to drop towards 380ish anyway.

Forget the power output, and enjoy the drive and the sound!

You wouldn't weigh your favourite meal would you?

Your probally right fella, i am just annoyed at paying out so much money and still having a standard performance level that the car had anyway, but yes i agree and after all this thats it for me, it is what it is

You paid out that money and went from 350bhp so I don't see where it is wasted.

Dunno figures are really only useful in the pub, not on the road. Don't put so much weight on BHP readouts or you'll drive yourself mad (or bankrupt) chasing them.

Yes understood, as i say this will be the last mod anyway, and what ever it ends up at will have to be it
