Rattle from engine when shut off

Usually flywheel noise nothing really to be concerned about. May need replacing eventually

Hi Rickster, is there an audible sound on startup from the timing chain, on the RS4, I would assume only for a few seconds until oil pressure builds up? Cheers

I had it on my c5 rs6 and sounded awful for about 4-5 secs on start up sound like a bag of spanners usually first start of the day worse on a cold day

Thanks Rickster, but on your RS4 B7 or any RS4 B7 I assume there's no audible sound or rattle on startup from chain when cold, I only ask as when viewing I like to have a good listen to engine, and just wondered if it was a common trait with these engines, a rattle on startup?

these engines never rattle on startup , its the S4 engine which does that due to cheap internals ,RS4 is completely different , different chain different steel guides instead of the cheap nylon ones the engine is all over totally different , lots of folk seem to thing it s 4,2 , so its the same , eh no its not , there is no components in the engine which is from S4, nothing !
