Would have thought that was quite obvious..... Pay and Display, or it'll get towed away.

You are saying I have to pay to use this site?

If this is your personal policy then please ensure that it applies to all.

PhilT is only applying the rules we set out from day one, Phillip we dont mind people who are selling stuff thats private and non trade, it just that if you are trade and use the classifieds, it makes a mockery of the people to do pay and help fund this website.

What is it with you? We are happy with you using the site, but have had to approach you on many occasions about the way you abuse the site.

You are a business, we know you trade through the site, and we will no longer tolerate this as it affects the relationship we have with our Site Sponsors.

Oh, and yes... If you want to trade using the site, you'll have to pay the advertising.

Please take this as a final warning.

Think you will find this has been covered on more than one occaision, and in particular in an E-mail to you a couple of months ago. If, as a business, you want to sell and advertise your business and services, which is what you are doing, you have to pay, as do all the other traders. Its not personal unless you want to make it so.............. 8)

Simon,
Thank you also for your advice.

I never take advice personaly. I do however I do take issue with the manner in which I have been approached requesting funding by RS246.

The first e-mail is in the quote below.

"Hello Philip,

As a businessman, and motor trade professional, you are obviously aware of the value of your presence on RS246 and similar forums. Please either take out one of the advertising packages below, or refrain from using our sites.

Thanks,

RS246 Crew."

Subject: RS246 Site Sponsor

RS246.com would like to offer your business the opportunity to advertise on probably the most successful Audi S and RS website in the world.....

I'm sure the site users would appreciate your reply :)
To raise revenue the site owners may wish to implement a membership fee say £20, along the lines of the Club GTI forum. For this paying members get access to classifieds adverts along with various discounts from recognised suppliers. As an extra service the paying members could gain access to a tecnical forum to discuss and share common problems. Also attendance to track days coulds be discounted to the paying members as well. I am sure you do not need reminding of the funding streams open to your web site.

Sould you need advice on the above funding advice please contact me.

Philip
To which we responded....
We are well aware of the options available to us to generate revenue, and we may look at these more closely once we have exhausted the advertising. In the meantime your role is not to advise us how we should run the site; your role is to either contribute as a user and/or as a sponsor.

- Users give assistance, and make no financial gain from it.
- Sponsors give assistance, and hope to make financial gain both directly or by recommendation.

As stated, we will not tolerate people running their business through the site. Please keep this in mind.

Thanks,

RS246 Crew.
Your final reply was....
Your comments suprise me as, does you arrogance in dealing with constructive funding advice given by myself. If your site was the only site dedicated to the mark, then I may accept your tone.

As for your comments in the last para. Re "running my business though the site" this is laughable. My garage business has run perfectly well for the last 20 years with out advertising anywhere. We find that our when or customers are please they recommend us to others. This is how the business has grown.

We find the "carrot" rather then the "stick" is best in customer relations. Perhaps you may take some heed of this method when approaching future sponsors

Kind regs

Philip
Philip, we're not giving you advice, we are telling you the rules. If you want to use the site, abide by the rules.

Grizz, nobody is questioning Philips's contribution, just the fact that he uses the site, on a regular basis, to sell his wares. If you look at the site as a whole, you find quite a few businesses which both sponsor and contribute. Advertising is a form of raising revenue to fund the machinery, hosting, phoneline costs and other incidentals which are currently paid for directly from the pockets of a few who will remain nameless and who make no gain what so ever by doing this. it is grossly unfair to ask company/business to sponsor a banner when an idividual can come along, sell his spares and services, and not have to pay for the use of the site. Not my rules I hasten to add, but the rules of the site which needs to raise revenue to continue to exist and evolve..... no income= no web site!
