P0706 implausible signal

Am having a problem with my Gearbox when I first start it up and put it into D 'drive' sometimes goes into limp mode (all the Gearbox symbols go solid Red) So am having to stop and restart the engine to sort it I've plugged into my Code Reader and is Chucking this Code P0706 Transmission Range Sensor/implausible signal I've got it booked into my indie for Monday but if anyone knows a fix?? Or DIY ?? Thanks in advance for any info

I see you can buy them on ebay lol but only second hand think there about 300 from Audi......... Is it easy to fit then??

Don't, whatever you do, buy a used one! :thumbsdown:
New ones are not that much, certainly compared to the labour costs involved in replacing them.
Had mine done a while back and I think it was about £500 all in on a D2 S8. But that's Home Counties labour rates for you!

There are two types with different connectors so just make sure they order the right version in. Oddly I think the newer 10-pin version (which I needed) is a bit cheaper than the older 8-pin one.

Think I paid much less than 300 for mine from TPS.

yeh I'm pretty sure I've had it done twice before at a cost of 330 ish I've only done 30,000 miles in my RS6 since owning it since 2008 these range switches must be pretty bad quality!!
