Re: New RS6 PE Spec and other Questions
Having a test on a DRC tomorrow and hoping to get an air one early next week for a spin.
Re: New RS6 PE Spec and other Questions
"Who would track an RS6 ?" Well, for many reasons: because you can; you might like to explore various cars' ability on the track; you might have one or more tracks nearby; but primarily, where would be best to explore fully and understand better the RS6's range of abilities and huge performance, certainly not on public roads; Audi UK, for example, demonstrate or have demonstrated all sorts on the track in their Driving and Advanced Driving Experiences, even SQ7s; and its fun! I am not suggesting that's principally why you would want to buy an RS6 or that it should be your principal track car, its just another factor you may wish to take into account.

Re: New RS6 PE Spec and other Questions
Even still, as I said earlier, you most definitely do not need to be on a track to feel the benefit of DRC.
But also as I said and you are now doing, try both and see what you prefer. I didn't bother trying air in comfort mode as I knew that would be comfortable, it was in dynamic that I wanted to see what the difference between the 2 would be when pressing on and was surprised how rolly air was even at slow speeds going around a roundabout and how much bigger it made the car feel when turning. But we are all different and air might suit you so give it a go.

Haha! Quite right. And all of the Audis that i have ragged on a closed circuit have belonged to Audi. As a result, I have a real sense of the RS6's track capabilities - and I can safely say I won't be booking any track days for my own one. Also agree, though, that DRC is very impressive - if you have the corner, the speed, the visibility and the safety to really push the car hard into it. For me, air is fine on the public road; I would have gone for DRC but I needed a tow bar as mine is very much a working car. I don't miss DRC on a day-to-day basis.harrier wrote: ↑Fri Jul 21, 2017 1:35 pm"Who would track an RS6 ?" Back to Keyless Entry, mentioned earlier. I would think long and hard about that having read a while back of its implication as a security weakness in other threads in this forum.

Re: New RS6 PE Spec and other Questions
Agreed, whilst I can appreciate the cosseting feel of air on dual carriageways etc., as soon as you get near a corner or roundabout air does not belie the 2 tonne weight. DRC is far more composed and when cross country, manages undulations far better when pressing on that air. Glad I have it, wouldn't swap it.MikeFish wrote: ↑Fri Jul 21, 2017 1:59 pmEven still, as I said earlier, you most definitely do not need to be on a track to feel the benefit of DRC.

I have one 'test' roundabout I benchmark all my cars on and with DRC I can enter, go round and exit it a good 10mph faster than I could with an air equipped car where the tyres were squealing in pain on the latter, both in dynamic. But then is that's not your thing, fast point to point driving air is just fine and more civilised for urban commuting.

Re: New RS6 PE Spec and other Questions
I had keyless entry on my M135i and it is nice but at the same time I actually prefer to place the key in a slot. I find it a bit annoying when it sits in your pocket sort of getting in the way.
I sort of find the term of 'keyless entry' a bit nonsensical as you still have a key. Once they can safety remove a key (if ever) and replace with it with prints or retinal would I consider one, assuming the safety was in place.
Re: New RS6 PE Spec and other Questions
It's all relative and like said people drive differently and air will suit others. You seemingly won't have it that DRC may actually in some non-track related circumstances be better than air....
Re: New RS6 PE Spec and other Questions
I have to agree, I just didn't like the roll on air.
Re: New RS6 PE Spec and other Questions
Duh! Read my posts. Even in this thread I have said that DRC is better than air. I am just not stuck in some simple one-track mentality that can't conceive that different people want different things from a car and that an RS6 can be fast without DRC.gsc wrote: ↑Fri Jul 21, 2017 5:56 pmIt's all relative and like said people drive differently and air will suit others. You know that whichever option you pick there is no slot for a key on the C7? Keyless entry means you don't need to press the button on the keyfob to lock or unlock the doors. Beyond that both options are pretty much the same and are keyless start so key will be in your pocket whichever option you chose.LeapingDeere wrote: ↑Fri Jul 21, 2017 5:09 pmI find it a bit annoying when it sits in your pocket sort of getting in the way.

How do you lock it without pressing the button?MikeFish wrote: ↑Fri Jul 21, 2017 8:01 pmYou know that whichever option you pick there is no slot for a key on the C7? Re: New RS6 PE Spec and other Questions
You don't. You have to press the button on the fob to lock regardless.
