Had my RS4 Remapped

Post by wheelfurb » Mon Jul 17, 2017 4:28 pm

Hi all,

Was disappointed with the first dyno run as my car only made 380BHP. The mapper assured me this was quite normal on RS's as they lose some power through the gearbox and excess carbon buildup. Is this true?

More importantly my car made 463 BHP after the remap. I was quite impressed. I have a JC weldfab exhaust by the way with downpipes. Car now booked in for a carbon clean so hopefully the car should make at least 485 BHP.

I have attached the graph.

Eh?

380 --> 465 from a map?

Something not right here.

Who mapped it? Did they fix some underlying problem between runs?

Hiya,

I think there is some plonker pulling going on here

The 465 sounds plausible but starting at 380 no way unless it was a B7 with a carbon clean in between the runs!

Just had mine remapped by MRC and I think it came out about 450 will have a look later. In any case the increase was only about 20bhp from the map, which is probably what was expected.

Did they do the gearbox too?

Oh.. Rule 1

Cheers

Yea they have just fiddled the transmission losses to show an improvement. Maps on a B8 are 10-20bhp and normally only if you have changed things induction or exhaust side.

Yep spot on, I got about 20hp with a milly and new high flow air filters, nothing more to be had I'm afraid

Not sounding too reputable given the dodgy dyno figures

Have a look at:

http://www.dmsautomotive.com/upgrades/audi-rs4-b8/

Don't forget I do have a full JC Weldfab exhaust system with downpipes. But to be fair I'm doubting the map. Perhaps they did fiddle the transmission losses.

V8mark - So your car before was 430BHP and after the remap went to 450BHP?

Hiya,

I'll have a look at the Dyno plot later, I think that's about right. It made about stock with a remap!!

Also MRC removed the inlet manifold and there wasn't sufficient carbon buildup to warrant a clean. So looking at your figures you might not need one.

The carbon issue is left over from the old B7, and even then wasn't a problem if driven correctly Image

Would like to hear your exhaust some time if that's possible??

Cheers

Not many B8s with a weldfab exhaust that I know of. Is this Ross's old car? I know it was bought by a forum member but not sure if he still has it.
