Why not just buy a used car? That's far to much dollar to lose over 4 years.

I've spoken to Audi and the Balloon payment is based on the std price of the car and does not take in to account any options added. They said that 40% of the value of the options is what they would expect at the end of the 4 year but no guarantee. Potentially adds 15K back on the car making it slightly more palatable.

I think 40% is generous. They make a car more saleable but don't often up the value.

Mate, I have an identical spec to the one you are ordering...
I paid £96k top line
Had £9k deposit contribution after that. (Squeezed and squeezed them).
Put in £10k cash
Payments are £900 ish per month.
And guaranteed £45k at the end of 4 years not 3 years.

Which is drastically different to what you are getting quoted and I've only had mine a few weeks.

My advice would be get a better deal.

Matt.

Hi Matt

Can you share your spec and what APR did you get? Was the £96K after discount or before? Sounds like a bargain - who was it from?

Residuals are updated at least monthly so it is entirely possible. They are set by VWFS.

You could argue that the value would be more than the balloon payment after 4 years but no guarantee especially as the new model will be out by then.
If the ballon payment is £36,200 in 4 years time, then that's going to be some awesome car still for any buyer looking for a second hand car with huge performance and adaptability. A mate bought a 2007 R8 V8 last year, with 38K on the clock, for £40K. Its still a supercar, but not a patch on the RS6 for ability. I sold an 8 year old B5 RS4, with 85K miles, for £16K and more recently a 10 year old supercharged B7 RS4, with 95K miles, for £24K all in. So, in my experience, Audi's RS cars, with their relatively low production numbers certainly hold their value better than almost any other production car.

I think its reasonable to anticipate that there will be plenty of keen buyers for Billy's car at significantly more than the ballon payment, perhaps £40-46, even £48K, and that can justifiably be considered as part of the affordability equation. It'll still be a mind blowing car for that price for many. A new C8 RS6, what will that cost then? ... £120-130K perhaps, so who's ready to jump into that?
RS6 PE DMS, Daytona, Pano., 21" 5-V-Spoke Tit.Alloys, C/Ceramics, Dynamic Pack +, Parking Pack Adv., Assist. Pack, TV (MMI only), Road Angel (essential) + Python, A. Connect & Phone Box + S/phone Interface, Head-up Display and Night Vision Assist., RS6 Proj. Puddle Lights, Clear 3M Wrap.

Mini Cooper S ("hot"Chili) 265BHP; VW Fox 59BHP; Citroen C1 68BHP!!

RS4 (B7) w. TTS S/C, C/Ceramics - sold
Audi TT Coupe won at model launch, for 3 months, from Audi UK !

The other option to minimise the cost of depreciation is to remove some of the options. A PE with 10k of options is still a great car and can probably be had for about 80k. If the 103k price tag makes it too unbearable I'd rather have a PE with less spec than not have one at all.

Totally agree, while some options help a car to sell they rarely impact on residuals. My lowly RS6PE listed at £93k and around £78k after discount, if it's worth £35k trade after 3 years I will have done ok.

I totally agree the issue is I've done that in the past and within less than two months regretted it and ended up getting rid of the car early because it didn't have everything I wanted on it.

Agreed. Am I right in saying options make no difference to the gfv? With the possible exception of pan roof? So if you finance it and add £10k options, that's £300 extra a month just for the options (over three years), and if you hand the car back at the end, you don't get a penny back

Edit. Probably more than £300 month when you factor in interest

You could always spend a few quid on therapy to offset your potential loss! Only joking mate, but most options are frippery, if I think back to my favourites over my driving life it's the drive I remember and not whether it had hill hold assist.
