Air filter replacement DIY

Post by Silver7 » Tue Jul 04, 2017 7:24 pm

Hi all, dealer wants £156 to supply and fit air filters, is there a DIY to do it yourself? And if you do replace them yourself does it invalidate the warranty? Car is due year two service @ 16k and was thinking of doing the air filter and pollen filters myself. Also they want to regard the air con @ £76? Seems early.

Thanks in advance

Yes, ITG - available from many options. Circa £130 for the pair and better airflow also. 4 screws per filter and loosen the clip around the hose and it's an easy swap. There are others, but I've always run ITG's since I added the Capristo and not had any issues. One did deteriorate but ITG replaced without any issues at all.
It's all torque talk.

invalidate the warranty? The car is stock exhaust wise

I've had ITG in mine since new with no issues
On my second set can't be bothered cleaning them I just replace every year

Just a tad! The standard is made of paper, so airflow through it is dire in comparison. There are charts out there stating what volume of air is pulled through from manu's vs stock, but I don't recall where now. Give a high-reving, cramped, hot running V8 more air and it's going to be happier. Not 150bhp more happier, but happier regardless!!
