Thanks for the replies guys.RS4 sounds a cracking car, just been out in a friends porsche gt3 and it felt great even though it "only" has around 380bhp(20 more than my s3 and the same as standard rs4).Really want to try a 996tt aswell,i'm feeling the lure of stuttgart!!

C'mon Ryan you know that the RS4 is a much better car than the S3 you currently have,i've also owned a 2002 S3 with around 300 horses but when i did a testdrive in an RS4 i was amazed by the power this car has.

Much more difference than i expected.

completely different than my A8 too but that on a sideline.

I trying to sell my LCR everywhere i can, just because i want one....

Told this before but i thought i could "forget "about the RS after i bought the LCR.....NOT.

I want one and i will get it period. The RS4 has a near magical apperance for me...

BTW did some miles in my mates Porsche Carrera4,i think it cannot stand in the RS4's shadow....
But that's just my 2 cents

It really depends on what you want to do in the car... track days ? Lots of high speed touring ? Practicality ?

GT3 is a very different proposition than either a 996TT or an RS4...and probably slower on the road than either....RS4 is probably the best at the '1 car does everything' view of things...996TT have suffered heavily with depreciation

Of course on a track it'd be a different story...

It all depends how you treat the baby. If you go hard on tunning, them u might have to deal with realibity issues.

My S4 has never let me on the street, and i have it for 26 months.

Best Regards

RS4 cruiser. Interesting description. There's no comparison in the driving experience of 1.8 4 cylinder chipped to 320bhp and even a stock V6 2.7 twin turbo to 380bhp far less a mildly chipped RS with over 400ftlbs.

Its all in the torque not the bhp for at least 80% of your driving unless you redline everywhere? Have you tried an RS yet?

On the reliability issue. I had my turbos replaced 4months after buying it with only 34K miles on it. Thankfully under warranty. An oil seal had let go.
But in near two years of ownership it has been fine with only normal consumable parts neading replaced. I don't believe the RS4 is an unreliable car. Even more so if you consider its complexity and performance and as the rest of the lads on here have said, put in perspective with comparative performers it’s a cheap option.

But its about what you wantfrom a car. You should take a drive in one to see if its for you.
