Post by Rs63855 » Sat Jul 08, 2017 1:48 pm

Gona get 4 new tyres not sure what to get! I like the look of Dunlop sport max, have conti on mine now look decent but wear down fast!

Got mit pilot sport 4s on my rs3 but really don't like the look of them look abit like off road tyres.

What you guys running. / recommend and any pics!

Thanks

MPS4 or MPS4S?

I've got MPS4S on my S8 and they're nothing whatsoever like offroad tyres! I'd have thought they were ideal for a C7.

Mps4s mate I just don't think they look nice. Very poor in the wet as well on the rs3

What size wheels you running?
MP4S not available in 285/30/21 so best option is PSS.
If you have the 20s the MP4S is the best option of Conti contactsport6.

Michelin Pilot Super Sport. I had those before MPS4S. They were the best until the 4S arrived. But I'm on 20's so have the choice.

Seems like dunlops best option for 21s so far. Been on auto trader and most rs6's on there run the dunlops of conti', some p zeros. In that order 1st being dunlops most I have seen.

That's because they are the 3 tyres that the RS6 comes with from the factory. Doesn't mean any of them are any good or popular as they are probably still on original tyres.

Look, do you want to ignore the advice and buy a tyre that looks nice (you can only see the sidewall when on the car anyway) or do you want the best grip?

If you want some grip and be able to stop in all weather conditions get the michelins. If you are more interested in what the tyre looks like take your pick from all 4 based on looks.

Dunlops are probably the best of the factory tyres, not had contis on the 6 but have them on the rs3 and they are shocking. Got Dunlops on the 21s and pirellis on the 20s on the 6 and the pirellis are crap too.
I would never pay any money for any of those 3 tyres. I only ever buy Goodyear Eagle F1 or Michelins now. Unless you like drifting. Those crap tyres will make car handle more like a C63 if thats your thing.

PS pirellis has the best looking sidewall.

Ok thanks. Looks like mpss are the way forward then! Dunlops coming in 2nd.

Pirelli's was on my 3 and was shocking mainly on the wear and in the wet. These mps4s that's on it now maybe abit better but if pull out of a busy road kinda quick in the wet man the car front end slides badly. Also the traction always kicking in like it's loosing grip. Not sure why!

They are ok in the dry, but I think that is more to do with the cars grip than the tyres ability. In the wet they are not so great but much better than the pirellis.

To give you an idea of how bad the pirrelis are in the wet: I left the car park after work at the same time as a guy with a M2 so both on cold tyres. I was wet and we got to a roundabout. I thought he stood no chance in the rear wheel drive M2 on a wet roudnabout. Wrong, not only did he manage to go round it quicker, my car was oversteering!! BMW beats Audi quattro in the wet!!!

Not had the MP4S but im surprised they were that bad in thw wet. I thought they were supposed to be very good in the wet.

This tyre debate thing seems to go on for ever with every single car on this forum. IMO and it is only that any of the top branded tyres with the correct speed and weight rating are absolutely fine for driving on our roads. If you really want to test certain brands of tyre then get on a track.
I have Contis on mine and they work fine. They also look quite sexy with a cheeky little rim protection if it's the look you're after rather than personality 😂😂😂
