There's always the option of getting a friend to take the points too. Would this be a feasible option or would they ask about insurance and/or proof? We used to do it back home in Aus.
Do that and get caught and you'll have a day in court. And the court will take an extremely dim view.
Yeah don't do this, just take the points

Dont just take the points, speak to a road traffic lawyer, ask for the free advice and they'll give it to you straight. I got busted in Scotland (no speed awareness course just straight to points). was doing 79 in a 50 (the 50 was motorway conditions with hard shoulder and slips so no need for a 50 IMO, especially with a road not 1 mile from it without the Mway conditions being a 70!!!!). got pulled over so reported to the fiscal, paid for a good lawyer (Michael Lyon) and got 3 points & a fine...

best money I ever spent as i reckon i was looking at 9 due to the 50% over the limit...

but, don't try pass the points to someone else, especially after posting it on here...you'd be busted fairly quickly on that...

You'll be ok, just take it. Last time I went to court. I fancied a little 3 or 4 week ban but got 6 points
If you have existing points when you get a ban your license comes back clean, yes.

You can only be offered the course if You've been caught driving over 10% plus 2mph of the limit, but below 10% plus 9mph. In a 30mph zone, this means anything between 35mph and 42mph, while in a 70mph zone it means anything between 79mph and 86mph any other circumstances, it's a fixed penalty + 3points.. unfortunately you looking at 6 points buddy...
was the second one a fixed camera or average?
I hope that's the case

Just got a letter today: 42 in a 30

Well just went through the mail and guess what, 2more fines. 39 in a 30 and 91 in a 70. Jesus!!! What an expensive weekend. Looks like I'll be obeying speed limits now. I'm guess this will cost me 9 points?

@faisal do those tinted plates that you have prevent cameras from seeing the plates? I'm guess not if you just got one too.

Speeding fines

Post by pule333 » Sat Jul 01, 2017 9:39 pm

DUDEEEEE!! That is bad :( when did you get your UK licence? If under two years, you considered as young/new driver. 9points and you loose licence... :( if you lucky, take awareness course for first one. +6 points... fingures crossed! Dude and for pit sake!!! Slow down man! They really are cracking down on speeding lately! I got two fines in December... of which one was speed awareness. Shlooow as grand dad now ;)

Switched to uk license a year ago but did make it clear that I have had a license for 15 years. If that is the case then yes it's really bad. I drove no different to any other time in the car so really surprised to get three after never having one before.

Can anyone else shed some light on the facts around switching an international license to the uk and whether I will be treated as a new license? As above I have held an Aussie drivers license for 15 years but date of issue (4a) is August 2016.

Dude like I said, I truly hope I am wrong!!! When wife exchanged hers 8years ago and I tried putting her on my insurance, my premium went up considerably, when I called them up, they told me it because she is a young driver even though she had kiwi licence for 4 years before that., But you might wanna consider gettting a proper advice from a layer or something just in case!
