Speeding fines

Post by jonytek » Thu Jun 29, 2017 7:07 pm

So I've finally got my first speeding fine 88 in a 70 zone. Can anyone tell me what I would expect as a penalty? Ambiguous info online.

As you're under 90 you may get lucky with a speed awareness course.

If you're unlucky 3 points, £80 fine would be my best guess.

:biggrin3:

You weren't trying hard enough....it's only 26% over

I'd wager on a speed awareness course plus the fine

3 points. You'd be very lucky to get a speed awareness course being 18mph over?

if you are lucky you'll get 3 points which should reduce for premiumsfor the next 3 years. Crazy, but it did for me.

Furious - that video I sent you would be far better than a speed awareness course.... in fact I don't think you'd be able to drive....

Alright cheers. I'm actually expecting another on too. Could end up being an expensive weekend. To be honest I've been taking the piss a bit so might be time to slow down a bit.......... but probably not.

Sorry buddy I have bad news for you :(
You can only be offered the course if You've been caught driving over 10% plus 2mph of the limit, but below 10% plus 9mph. In a 30mph zone, this means anything between 35mph and 42mph, while in a 70mph zone it means anything between 79mph and 86mph any other circumstances, it's a fixed penalty + 3points.. unfortunately you looking at 6 points buddy...
was the second one a fixed camera or average?

Snapped going into Cambridge for dinner. Was a horrible stop as I scratched one of my wheels after hitting a F**KING curb leaving a F**KING car park which is far worse than a speeding fine, far more expensive too. I do have it being touched up so hopefully it will hide it.

Thanks Ilya, lets wait and see what happens with the second. If it's 6 points for the weekend then I guess I will need to slow down. Like I said I have been taking the piss a little bit.

There's always the option of getting a friend to take the points too. Would this be a feasible option or would they ask about insurance and/or proof? We used to do it back home in Aus.

Do that and get caught and you'll have a day in court. And the court will take an extremely dim view.
