What Tyres To Use?
What Tyres To Use?
What tyres should I use for the S4? Mitchelin Pilot Sports are the main brand but Im seeing a few other Mitchelin brands lined in with the S4. What are your recommendations people?
Thanks!

RE: What Tyres To Use?
IMO Kumho tyres take a lot of beating, however I am in the minority. Apparently MPS are much better? Apparently they last the same amount of time, cost twice as much and offer better levels of grip???? If cost isn't a concern buy MPS, if it is consider Kumho tyres they work really, really well for the money, IMO.
Before I get shouted down, I have run, Michelin, Pirelli, Goodyear, Bridgestone, Fiorestome, Continental (liked these loads) and just about all the other major brands, on a multitude of cars(4 cyl through 8 cy, inc turbosl) in the last 20 years of motoring, IMO Kumho tyres are v. good, just as good if not better £ for £ than any other make............

on my 17" Avus wheels, I run yoko avs sports, which are fine in the dry, not so clever in the wet, cheap though, and did well at the 'ring
on the 18" RS6 alloys I run michelin Pilot Sport 2s...well I will when I get round to putting them on the car.

Pirelli P6000 - 2 sets, crap
Bridgestone S02 - 2 sets, fantastic
Toyo T1-S - very good grip wet & dry, not very hard wearing, give anoying hum at motorway speeds.

Re: RE: What Tyres To Use?
T1-R on her 1.8T quattro --no hum on the motorways David- very quiet, much more so than the Rossos on mine. Had SO2 or SO3 before ( can't remember! )and the Toyos are better especially in the wet. We do not do vast mileages so I will always trade wear for wet grip. I think they were Pilot Sport on the S3 - yeah they were round and black and that's about it - not that impressed !DavidT wrote:Pirelli P6000 - 2 sets, crap

Far to subjective a discussion - go with what you like / are used to ?
