311.2 will work with any lead, I believe, later software versions require active key or hex cables. License is $99.

I bought my usb cable on ebay for £25 and
erm, license can be free if you use a keygen.

Not sure how this will go down with the mods here, but here goes

cars are free if you steal them too.

amounts to the same thing.

$99 isn't much if you use something regularly - its basically a tank of fuel...and if you don't use it regularly, probably the shareware version is enough.

not paying for it means there'll be less money going into development for new versions.

I have just upgraded my VAG-COM because I got a new laptop which only has USB. Although I've not used it much yet, the 500 release doesn't seem any different from the 311.2 release.

So is my HEX-CAN usb interface, and I have also been working with Ross-Tech for the last 2 years, developping new stuff, alpha and beta testing, so it really hurts me to see people using keygens and posting them on forums especially....

I'm sorry guys, i never meant to cause such offence. my intentions were to help out Buzzard.
I bought my cable from an ebay seller who sent me the software.
To be honest the ebay cable is very unstable and if i need to use it regularly i'll be buying an official vagcom

I'm unable to edit the post myself, so I have emailed the one Mod i know of.

if you know of a mod you can contact then please do.

311.2 is ok or everything I've use it for to date on both my previous 1997 S4 and 2000 RS4.

I check and clear error codes and log boost. I can even check for misfires which some on here don't think is possible on cars built prior to Nov 2000. Well mine is Sept 2000 and I can check for missfires something I'm doing right now!
