Insurance for 2nd car (so no NCB)

Post by Shoppinit » Sun Jun 11, 2017 9:12 am

Can anyone recommend an insurer that will give me an introductory NCB or at least take into account my significant NCB that is currently used on another car?

At the moment only Admiral will take into account the 2 years named driver experience on my wife's car.

My current insurer will let me use my NCB to insure a second car, but they are not competitive. Admiral are way cheaper, even with no NCB.

It looks like I'm going to have to phone around. There seems to be no way of telling online quote generators that you actually have loads of NCB but on another car.

Any suggestions welcome.

Thanks.

Thanks.

Tried it and it generated quotes at least 10 times more expensive than Compare the Market!

I really, really don't want to use Admiral because I hear so much negative press about them, not least their policy of penalising you for speed awareness courses taken in the last 5 years. :x

Call Sky insurance- they may be able to mirror your NCB on a second car. They did for me

Adrian flux mirrored mine for the 1st year then gave me 1 years ncb at the end of it. But probably cost more to transfer your other policy across.

I use Admiral for 3 cars and home insurance. They are the most competitive by far!

Most of the negative reviews I have read are standard gripes that would come with any insurance company in my opinion.

I haven't had to make a claim and hopefully it stays that way!

Good luck with your search :)

Ouch

I think I only pay £600 with no NCD on my exige which is group 50.

Axa mirrored 12 years NCB on both my RS4 and 330d. Was with them for 3 years before they were no longer competitive. For the 3 years they were very good on price though.

I use Aviva for our second car which is used as a nursery hack and then left at the station during the day (2016 Golf 1.4TSi Match Edition). Both myself(39 and 18yrs NCD I can't use on this car) and other half(34 and no NCD) are named drivers, I have a clean record, she has 1 'notification of accident, no claim' from last year. South London post-code, left out on the drive at night, 5k miles. £350 fully comp.

I ended up putting it as a second car on my wife's Aviva policy with me as main driver and her as named driver. No idea why but it worked out way cheaper than any other way I tried.
