Warning Light A6 2.7T Bi-Turbo 2001

Post by Andrewhorne » Mon Oct 03, 2005 10:47 am

Can somebody out there give me some advice please, within the speedo an amber light in the shape of an engine has illuminated.
The car is running well and the OK symbol illuminates prior to the engine starting, any ideas please :?

I'd take it to a dealer and get them to diagnose it.

It's free to do this, but check that before you go.

Then report back here and people will advise.

Check engine light is not good, so do this 'as soon as' would be my advice.

Thanks David, I'll give the dealer a ring today and see what they have to say. Many thanks and regards, Andrew.

Just a quick update,
Had the car checked out on the diagnostic machine at the local Audi dealer. Fault found to be an intermittent malfunction of the coolant temperature sensor. They have disconnected the lead, cleared the fault in the ECU, test driven the car, re-connected and all is now OK. All FOC can't be bad!! The dealer is Parklands Gloucester, top marks for customer service to them, regards to you all :D Andrew Horne.

I bet the fault will come back! All too often dealers say it is an intermitant fault, go away and try it. If it is an intermitent fault then it is still a fault and should be changed. very rarly do you get an intermitent fault that does not come back.

Common failure and can be changed in about 10 min

Thanks For That Simon,
I've just had the service manager on the line regarding another battle I'm having with Audi regarding a Fuel filter that has not been changed in the life of the car so far, that eventually corroded through and leaked like you can't believe!! They are really playng hardball on this issue and I really can't believe their attitude!! The car has been Audi main dealer serviced from new, the filter corrodes through and starts to leak the evening before my family holiday, all loaded up and ready to go. The AA rescue me by finding a replacement filter at 10-30 pm and fit it, holiday saved thanks to them, and all I get is this service manager bad attitude, that is my reward from Audi so far!! Even an apology would suffice and maybe an offer to cover the cost of the replacement filter would be some kind of olive leaf!! I'm beginning to realise that the smiling face of Audi soon dissappears when the warranty finishes, and you don't instantly buy a new car!! I take back the customer service accolade I gave Parklands in my previous message!! :x Andrew Horne.
