Short front plate plinth

I bought a 5 digit plate for my B8 RS4 and wanted to shorten it but still keep it legal.
I tried to find a shorter plinth to mount it on but couldn't find anything suitable.
I know I could just mount it straight on the grill with screws and no plinth, but I hate screws and want to stick it on.
So I made my own today. I am going to paint it gloss black and see how that lasts. If it chips I will get it powder coated.
Here is a picture after I machined it, I will get another picture up once painted and fitted. Not the most exciting mod, but kept me happy!

I got my 5 digit plate today, I think I might try gluing two magnets and sticking it to the blacked out bar centre of grill? It's a thought...what is your plate?

Hi,

I've got a 5 digit plate and had the same problem. I cut a section out, ensuring the mountings aligned with the grill. With the plastic cut out then used this to epoxy across the back. The join was then filled and sanded and the whole part sprayed gloss back. You can't tell it's been done. I'll put a photo on.

This has to be the most over-engineered solution to a problem I've ever seen. I really love it :D :D
