Yeah it is, if you go to Audi connect and register its model specific as to what connect provides you....in my case 2015 B8 what's offered is already on my phone so pretty useless for me.

I bought a data sim for mine, £10 a month for 5gb.

Main benefit for me is the kids can connect iPads, peace on a long journey lol

Not a bad deal, EE wanted £8 a month for a data share sim on my contract as I'm on 25gb a month! Your kids will love you even more....win win

can get a threeuk 12gb sim for £25 from my memory, it lasts 12 months from time of first use, just about to replace mine after 12 months use, used it for google maps, weather etc, all phones connected to it that time when in car and my daughters ipad too, think still about 2gb left as well.

That was an existing customer deal, doubled up the data with a EE wifi box thingy

Ok, just been on to myAudi part of site where you log in. When clicking on my vehicle it tells me Audi connect infotainment is not connected and provides a pin for me to input in car, then I'll be connected without the use of sim through my phone instead. The sim just provides a wifi hotspot instead of your phone being one and it gives you google maps and a few other bits. If you haven't got it it's really not a big deal.

I've looked through every menu for the area where you put the pin code in and can't find it. Neither could my dealer. In the end we both thought it was because I was trying to use my phone rather than a dedicated data sim.... But this comment makes me think we should have looked harder. Can anyone help?

You can only use your phone for data if it has SAP. iPhone doesn't have SAP.

When you say "of site" which site are you referring too?

Why cant i use text messages? The option is greyed out. (i use an iPhone 6 and i dont have the option to show notification in the bluetooth devices on the phone)
"While your iPhone is connected to your vehicle, access its Bluetooth® settings and activate Notifications.
On your iPhone, touch Settings > Bluetooth > SYNC
Set Show Notifications to ON."

So this "Show Notifications" toggle you do not have it all while your phone is connected to the car?
