Keyless Entry and increasing danger of car theft!
Re: Keyless Entry and increasing danger of car theft!
Eddie's point was that he did what you said about securing the home so they followed him to his workplace and jumped on him from behind with a gun.

Re: Keyless Entry and increasing danger of car theft!
Ok well if you're going to get targeted then there's only so much you can do. I posted before on some basic anti surveillance techniques as well. It's not a nice thing to live in paranoia whereby every noise you hear and car behind you could be a potential threat. Just bear in mind that if you get targeted then there will almost always be a period of hostile surveillance on you (criminals etc do their own assessments as well) unless you're unlucky enough to be the victim of opportunistic criminals. Eastern European gangs are well known for using extreme violence on their victims as that's the way of life in their home countries. In soft and fluffy UK we're seen as easy meat unfortunately.

Re: Keyless Entry and increasing danger of car theft!
Ok so after speaking to a suitable guy the kit used in the Merc theft may well be an 'amplifier'. It's big and in a bag as it needs big battery power to handle the output needed. Basically your key constantly pushes out an RF signal that is then recognised by the car and open sesame. The amplifier grabs your signal and then a separate 'speaker' held against the target car door transmits the grabbed code to the car and away you go. COTS and can be made for around £30.00 am told.
As for RF/Faraday Cage bags that will work BUT:
A) you would have to take the key out of said bag for it to work
B) there's a chance that with the key transmitting signals and not being able to fully transmit them (due to being in an RF pouch) the key log will clog up and also potentially activate the vehicle immobiliser!
I'm off to Audi later in so will ask these questions..I don't expect an answer straight away but hopefully will get something back.
Depressed yet?

Re: Keyless Entry and increasing danger of car theft!
I'm not depressed and nor will I ever will be. It's a "CAR". I couldn't careless. After what I went through, the easier it is for them to take it the better. Dunno why people get so hung up about stopping the theives. I tried to stop them, as I've stated but then risked my life. I won't be making that mistake again.

Re: Keyless Entry and increasing danger of car theft!
It is a matter of choice, Defence or Avoid.
When we had the moment with selling the RS6 I decided to put the keys in a metal safe inside an RF envelope we use for testing computermabobs. I figured this would be one of the things they would use to try and lift the car as I had ticked the option for keyless-go. Possibly as a result they decided to go full on and break into our home to see if they could get the keys.
