MRC = Happy Chappy

Post by Huwbert » Thu Apr 13, 2017 5:14 pm

Had a service done a few weeks ago at MRC, after having a health check on the dyno, there were a few problems that appeared. It put out 357 ps, Doug said it wasn't getting enough air. After whipping the inlet manifold off, it was clear a carbon clean was needed. It was also found that the right hand side pre cat was disintergrating and the bits were going into the secondary cat and gradually blocking it up. A carbon clean was booked in, the car was dropped off on monday. A set of 2nd hand downpipes were sourced and the pre cats gutted and fitted, carbon clean carried out and back to the rollers. It should be noted that a previous owner had had a stage 2 tune. On the rollers, the power went up to 414 ps, But Doug still wasn't happy. After fitting a new MAF, the power went up to 423 ps. After a tweak to the map, power increased to 427 ps. In total, that's a gain of 70 ps and 40 nm! Mega chuffed with that result, even more so, seeing as on the drive home, the mileage hit 162k!

Nice one mate! Could have been quite dangerous with that happening to the cat i would think. Probably happened if the previous owner had a stage 2 and put the cats back in. Excess fuel could have burned the insides up

Why so long, what are they doing ? TBH they did look like they had a full car park ...but not sure how many were long term projects! I think I spied the B8 /C7 switch :bigblink:
