I did actually with my rs4, then swapped to rs6 did 12000 miles in 4 months across France Italy and Switzerland, I was at my grandfathers in Plevenon northern France, get in the car and lights up like a fairy tree, car gets recovered in etc etc

Strange - although i only did 6k miles across France, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Denmark and Sweden in 5 months...Maybe German reliability has had its day...!

So... the coil pack failure that I was originally led to believe was the problem for conking out actually turns out to be a broken valve inlet spring in cylinder 6. Engine strip down and rebuild with complete new head is expected to be around 2-3 weeks work. Whilst I am relieved that the car is still under warranty, I am no further forward in finding out why it has broken especially as the dealer's technician has said he'd never seen it happen before. After two poor alternatives, they have finally supplied me with a 17 plate S6 which will do for now but I am far from happy !

Wow, that's pretty horrific for such a young engine. Always good when warranty picks this stuff up, though it still stick in the mind for a while.

As for the loaner, that's BAU. I have often found this a weakness.
