There's a few round this way Chris that are willing to pay extra for it. Cos they don't like getting their little hands cold.

I'm going to put my hand up here and say that I've never seen the need/point of a heated steering wheel and have never understood why anybody would pay to have one. But... having just spent my first winter with a car equipped (as standard) with one I can now see the point, it really is one of those little luxuries in life that really work, even if it's only used for a small amount of the year.

Having said that, I'd never trade a nice FBSW for one.

Agreed, it's strangely addictive although not had the benefit in the depths of Winter yet.

The one that rocks my world currently (not Audi) is remote heat from the App or Key. Is almost life changing getting into a toasty warm car at 04:30 on a Monday morning.

A few more better pics (click for full size) of this Matt Nardo car, I think it looks incredible on the outside with the carbon etc, 'such a shame about that gopping interior.

I must admit I was quite excited about the heated steering wheel when I was looking at a Porsche Cayenne but, as above, I wouldn't swap the flat bottom wheel for it. If you could have a heated flat bottom wheel then I might be interested.

With regards to the the remote heat thing; that's why I have remote start on my 6. I can have the car with a warm interior and oil at running temperature when I get in the car with my seat already warmed. And in the summer I can have the car already cooled for me when I get in.

Is that aftermarket Mike?

Depending on the input to the RR, it's either an actual engine start or an aux engine that heats/cools the car to the desired Temp.

If instigated from the InControl Pro App, the engine's started but of course the doors etc. remain locked, if instigated from the key it's an aux (i believe paraffin & certainly smells like it) motor that heats the car. Only takes about 5-10mins with the aux motor to fully heat the car & really is a feature i'm in awe of. Didn't think i'd care but it's so far been used prior to pretty much every journey.

Yes Paul.

There is a mention of such features in the Audi Connect manual so I think some of the newer ranges of Audi might have a similar option now.

The aux heater has always been an A6 option - just not offered by Audi UK.
