RS246 Xmas Bash?

Post by Nige_RS4 » Mon Sep 19, 2005 2:08 pm

Is there any interest in holding an xmas function (either as a private or a mixed party) at a central location?

I have included a poll to indicate potential numbers.

Nige.

PhilT, I will call you to discuss.

Having orginised the 3-4 Xmas parties for RS4.org and RS246 ( btw we didnt have one last year)
I think its fair to say that the most successful was our trackday at oulton park with Xmas dinner.
The others i arranged were at a posh hotel and were for the few and not the masses.
Depends really how you want it to happen, i personally would prefer a tracday senario.
Cheers

Yep, I agree too.

Donington have trackzone dates on Sundays 27/11, 11/12 & 18/12. These are sessioned at £ 99, cheap as chips, well organised on a circuit with good run-off's and of course great to drive. They will let us all book in the one 20min session again.

I have sent them an email about Friday & Saturday availability for late Nov - mid Dec.

I'm happy with a Sunday anyway, I'd take Monday AM as leave.

Perhaps book in to the local travel-lodge and have a Christmas meal at the nearest pub? Now is a good time to arrange and book all three elements.

What do people think ?

David, send me a PM with the outcome of your conversation with Donnington & your phone#.

We'll keep the decision on what track to book open for now - anyone got any contacts with Audi / local circuits?

When I looked last year, Donington was £ 13400 for a weekday IIRC. 70 cars at almost £ 200 each. Any chance of that ? I have asked them again because you never know.

The only cheapies I could find were Castle Combe £ 4000 and Knockhill £ 3500.

Curborough sprint track was about £ 400 for the day but it's one car at a time :-) and very short :-( and very tight :-(

Anything that each attendee can book directly (trackday, meal and overnight stay) is good imo because it removes the issues caused by people who do not turn up or give the organisers the run-around. It also removes the element of financial risk taken on by the site too.

We can have a raffle etc to raise funds on the day / evening. Perhaps site sponsors / Audi etc could come up with a prize or two.

Just a few thoughts.

David

I was thinking of trying to get Audi UK to do something and maybe bring along some nice cars... i.e. B7 RS4 ;)

I'll try to make some enquiries this week.
