Most owners will map them, but only for standard road use, more a case of knowing you have 700plus bhp under the bonnet, most of which you can never use, as I found out with my 740bhp C6.
Is a FL the absolute must?
I bought my C7 a couple of months ago non FL but fell in love with colour and specImage
For me it's about the residuals and what I'll be able to sell it on for in 2-3 years time-hence why the FL I feel will hold its value more than a pre FL. having said that there are some lovely low mileage pre FL's that have the spec am after so am in both camps. There's even a couple of really cool looking matt wrapped ones about (which am sure you can appreciate mate!) so am not ruling anything out! Just starting to grip my sh1t that I have a cracking C6 saloon that's not selling at the moment.

Having just purchased a C7 and being through the process of being on Autotrader/Pistonheads every night if I'm honest I ignored every modified car.

But everyone's different, there will be others who will have no problems buying a modified car. If it's the right spec/example and you have a good feel about it buy it.

Having come from a C7 A6 pre FL I was pleased I went for a FL as the changes internally are noticeable. The updated MMI is better, silly little things like the media centre is better it show artwork from iPhone/iPods, it's a little easier to move round the music selection, sat nav maps is between the clocks which is a nice touch. It's just an overall refresh which feels nicer to use.

Externally I think the cars looks pretty much identical. The matrix led lights are cool and look stunning at night. Not actually driven with them yet so will keep you posted. You get this assisted main beam which turns off some off the leds as traffic comes towards you but it still provides full beam everywhere else. Oh and sweeping indicator leds.

Nothing ground breaking but for me it was little noticeable changes that made it feel more special than my standard A6.

What's it like compared to a tuned C6 Chris?

Better.

As said C6 is a powerhouse....but the C7 shows how numb it is.

Low down C7 is awesome(down to gearbox)

After licence loosing speeds C6 is mental...C7 is too BUT feels not to pull as hard.....but how often do you travel that quick?...bottom end is where it's at!

Yes it is about the low down torque and speed, unless you're on a de-restricted Autobahn then you're risking your licence.
Don't get me wrong I love my C6 to bits but I feel the C7 is a natural advancement especially technology wise. C6 platform is 12 years old now and it's old school power. Having stuff like start/stop technology will help. When I'm stuck in traffic just burning fuel away for no reason (apart from listening to the rumbling Milltek noise of course)

I personnally wouldn't have an issue buying a tuned car...depending on history etc of course.

Generally tuned cars are enthusiast owned and hence maintained and looked after to suit.

Also the 4.0 TT and gearbox seems rock solid too, although the 5.0V10 also is(apart oil seal)

Quick question-do the pre FL LED matrix headlights differ from the FL ones (apart from appearance)?

They are LED, not matrix.

On the front, they are a different shape (front end had a slight redesign). On the back they are the same shape, so would be a straight swap on a pre-FL

Was talking about these:

As opposed to these which look like bi-xenons. Both on pre FL cars

He answered your question. Pre facelift came with xenons as standard and had optional LED. There was no matrix LED on pre-facelift. Then the facelift cars got matrix as standard (in the UK).

Ok so the LED lights on the pre FL (1st picture) are the same spec and performance as LED Matrix lights on FL? Thats where I'm getting confused.

No, pre-FL had xenon as standard with standard LED, not matrix-LED, as the option. FL had matrix LED as standard.

Cheers, Don't suppose anyone knows what the difference (LED vs LED Matrix) is do they? They look pretty much the same-banks of individual LED lights

Matrix has the additional technology to manage beam vs surroundings and oncoming cars. Standard LED is just in lieu of xenons.
