Wheel straightening

Who's had experience of this? As I understand it they heat up the area with a blow torch and press it back into shape. I'm assuming it's only every the back of the wheel and not the fronts. If you had a wheel straightened was it refurbished after?

I had it all done as one job by a specialist, a typical obvious buckle on the inside. Though you'd be amazed at how badly damaged wheel can be yet still repaired.
On my wheel (and others I've seen) repairing buckles on the inside usually seems to involve cutting, straightening and welding.
My local wheel refurbishers will tackle minor damage around the rim (and has for me) but I used a specialist for the one bigger one I've had.

To have the wheel straightened it will need to be refurbed after.

The wheel basically goes on a tyre fitting style machine except there is a large roller which goes on the inside of the rim. As the wheel is turned this roller forces the wheel back into shape.

Because of the force involved it will damage or remove any paint on the inside of the wheel or wherever the roller has to be placed.
