Coding for airbags on comfort seats
Coding for airbags on comfort seats
So hoping to change seats and have read that I need to recode via VCDS to activate the side airbag in the comfort seat.
Question is is the following photo the correct page to alter the code on to achieve this? And what's the correct code to enter?

Re: Coding for airbags on comfort seats
That's where I would be looking. The coding should be guided.

Re: Coding for airbags on comfort seats
Just looking in the label files and I don't see a lot of info on the coding.
In the adaptation values, though, there are options for enabling / disabling the seat side airbags. Maybe this is what you are looking for?

Re: Coding for airbags on comfort seats
Hi Shop,
'Adaption values' where do I find them.
Also I checked a rs4 cab with comfort seats today and the code was 0471114 not 0470114 which to my over simplified mind says perhaps that is the code to change however in previous seat swap threads codes 0431622 and 0434622 are quoted but I can't find any similar codes to them anywhere?
What can possibly go wrong!
Re: Coding for airbags on comfort seats
Adaptation is just behind that coding window.
It's weird that there's so little info on the coding. Doesn't it suggest values when you hover the mouse over it?
I wouldn't try random coding. You might be telling it you have explosive antirollover bars.

Re: Coding for airbags on comfort seats
Good point ,
I will have another look tomorrow without changing anything. Worst case scenario is I pay Hazzydayz or similar to do the coding once I've swapped the seats.
Re: Coding for airbags on comfort seats
I've probably got a scan of my mate's RS4 with comfort seats. I'll see if the coding is visible.

Re: Coding for airbags on comfort seats
Found it.
0430712.
More confusing numbers! That's a LHD car though. Not sure if that makes a difference.
We really need the coding info. Annoying that VCDS doesn't have it.

A bit above my pay grade that I think!Shoppinit wrote: ↑Sat Mar 04, 2017 9:22 pmHave you tried the coding helper?

Then there's this from a previous post Which suggests that the code on the 2nd page worked but it doesn't say which screen of VCDS the code is to be entered in
(Sorry they are a bit out of focus)
Re: Coding for airbags on comfort seats
The coding tells the unit what it is and what's connected to it. The adaptation are the various parameters that be adjusted once the unit knows they are there to be adjusted.
So as an example, you could code an ABS module to tell it that it will be using a vehicle speed sensor. Then you might change the adaptation to tell the unit how many impulses per second correspond to 1 mph. But you have to get the coding right first.
I think you need to start the coding helper to get more information about the coding numbers. Have a poke around.

If you're up South Birmingham way, I can have a look for you. Or I can connect to your laptop remotely while it's connected to the car and see what the score is.

Re: Coding for airbags on comfort seats
Here is the list under adaptations,
And this is the next screen for the drivers side airbag which I was expecting to be deactivated as I thought the buckets didn't have one. Or is this a different airbag and either I need to add the one which is in the comfort seats or will the system detect it once I've fitted the seat?
