New battery time

Post by daytonamart » Fri Mar 03, 2017 8:51 pm

As my car was 10 years old on the 1st of March I treated it to a new battery.

Exciting times,

Sorry chaps this is one dull post. :drink:

Is VCDS required to code in the new bettery, read somewhere a while ago that the serial number of the battery needed to be put into the car

Pretty straight forward swap over, no coding needed.

I put a Varta I1 (£118 delivered)back in, two issues were the weight of the battery (25kg) combined with reaching in to get the old one out and the key had lost it's syncronisation.

Luckily I read on here how to re-sync so no issue.

Btw it's push close on the fob, put key in ignition, turn on ignition, wait a few seconds, turn off ignition, remove key and push lock car. Done.

As in it wouldn't lock unlock via the fob? Or read key in ignition?

My battery has been out over winter but my car locks via the clifford fob

Normally the key fob stops locking or unlocking the doors. Can still unlock using the key blade in the lock and still start the car.

New battery time

Post by pule333 » Sun Mar 05, 2017 9:44 am

What I really want to know is, does a lighter alternative to 25kg "ballast" in the boot even exists?? I mean same spec and size.... I know you can get much lighter racing batteries but that's not what I am asking..

Good question, I think it's time to 'fess up.

I actually had to get the missus to help me get the old one out, handle each job done.

Do I need to hand my man card in?
