BYe bye Audi Sport / Quattro GmbH
Re: BYe bye Audi Sport / Quattro GmbH
Well they can afford to design and implement DRC properly and make wheels which don't buckle in that case.

Re: BYe bye Audi Sport / Quattro GmbH
Looks have improved, I wouldn't say it looks better than a RS6 on the outside, I have no doubts about the interior as much as the hate my Cayenne S, the inside is a grade above the RS6. In saying that, the figures aren't too crazy, its not that faster than the RS6, but then again even the new E63S is just slightly faster so maybe the RS6 has really pushed wagon speeds to the limits with the C7.

The ZF8 is half the reason the C7 crushed all its competition on release and you're framing it like its a bad thing?

It's good but it's not great, it's still pretty slow.koruki wrote:The ZF8 is half the reason the C7 crushed all its competition on release and you're framing it like its a bad thing?
Re: BYe bye Audi Sport / Quattro GmbH
Given Audi, BMW, JLR, AML have it in all their top performance models, I'd say it's more than good.
DSG was only designed in the absence of a good Tq converter
In a road car the ZF8 is all you need

Re: BYe bye Audi Sport / Quattro GmbH
It's very good, but it's not right at the top. Merc and BMW have taken a different route in their M/AMG portfolios, Pork have the PDK which, in my opinion leaves Audi a little behind.
Re: BYe bye Audi Sport / Quattro GmbH
Pretty much every review I have seen of the MB E63S so far has cited issues with the 'box. Mind you, I also found MB torque converter autos to be a bit lacking, too. ZF is the best 'box I have ever had in a car - and perfectly attuned to the nature of the RS6.
Re: BYe bye Audi Sport / Quattro GmbH
I think the ZF8 is pretty fantastic, never found it slow. My other cars include PDK boxes and a fancy Hewland sequential in my race car, so it's not like i'm just being a fanboi. Think it suits the RS6 perfectly in fact.
As Mike has said, going to wait until i see a new Pan in the flesh before blowing my load over the edited cover shot.

Re: BYe bye Audi Sport / Quattro GmbH
Interesting how different people view things. I have a ZF8 in my RRS and personally I think it's lightyears behind the S-Tronic/DSG that was in my RS4. I drove a Pork with PDK recently and that was nothing short of outstanding, no delay in any variation of driving when you stamp on the loud pedal.

Yes, though the warranty is very Italian and I've heard some pretty horrific stories.
Re: BYe bye Audi Sport / Quattro GmbH
The panamera is not much faster if at all. 0-60 is faster thanks to their excellent LC but its a very heavy car. Sport turismo will be heavier still. It gets murdered by the RS7 performance here https://m.flickr.com/#/photos/dedetheco ... 604006010/
I think the Merc will beat them all thanks to the 850NM. I also happen to think the ZF8 is the star rather than a low point. I find DSGs too one dimensional for every day application.

Re: BYe bye Audi Sport / Quattro GmbH
One of the reasons I got rid of my Panny was the PDK box (2011 application)
Dreadfully slow and dim witted around town.....always set off in second in normal too....made it feel like clutch was slipping.
Was never in the right gear.
Had it back to Porsche a few times as I was convinced it didn't seem right.
Sport plus was ok BUT sometimes too severe for a smooth drive.
Might be better in latest models.
ZF8 in the 6 is light years ahead....felt it within seconds of test driving my RS6.
