Re: Front Pads
My brakes have been squealing since 2k miles.
Audi UK have told me they now have a fix for this, whether or not this is true i will have to see it to believe it.

Re: Front Pads
Mine are also on both front discs. I will get some pics up but its exactly like Iains camvid. I thought they were my discs for a moment when looking at the vid
What are the chances of a stone getting stuck on both discs to cause scoring eh?!

Re: Front Pads
I'd say chances are slim to anorexic!! Anyone have a contact for a cheese in AUK?- might be worth a mail listing the individuals, reg numbers, mileages etc etc.norman1979 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 01, 2017 3:38 pmMine are also on both front discs. Re: Front Pads
I had a small stone stick in the vent on a front disc. Couldn't see it to get it out and got a local garage to take a look. They sorted it but ordered me new pads. This was at 7500miles the pictures is of where stone was at in disc and other picture is the old pad and the new pad.

Christ I hate dealers with a manic passion - I have to say though Vicki at Cardiff looks a bit of sort especially compared to the last service advisor I used

Re: Front Pads
Hi guys.
Sorry for the long post.
Thought i would re-post on this topic as did not want to start a new one.
So i still have the grinding noise that was going on since around Jan and just 4k miles. when i managed to take my car in to jack Barclay Wandsworth in march now with nearly 7k miles on the clock. They said my front pads were at 70% and backs at 60% and have advised me to change them. But like i tried to explain to them, the grinding sounds like a metal to metal grinding and if the pads were 90-100% worn i would understand but there is still pad left so should not be doing this, i have also told them to check if there was any stones stuck in between the caliper and disk but they don't seem to think there is.
Now in may jack Barclay and Audi UK are telling me to change the pads front and back as they are now at 80% worn to see if this grinding still happens at a cost of £720.
I don't know what to do, I don't drive the car like crazy as always have my son in the car so i don't keep doing hard sharp braking.
The car is only 8 months old but when i had reported it to Audi it was only 4/5 months old.
There was a delay in getting the car to them as my car was awaiting to go back to Jack Barclay due to a suspension arm having to be replaced and had to wait 2 months on the part, plus while all this was going on my father passed away so was grieving with that and busy with funeral arrangements and everything. I had told Audi about this and they said they would be in contact with Jack Barclay to sort out these issues with the car. Once i had sorted everything out on my fathers part i still had not heard anything back from Audi UK or Jack Barclay so i rang Jack Barclay up and they said they had not heard From Audi UK at all and when i did call Audi UK back they said there is not much they can do about the brakes as it is a wear and tear item and they only have 6 months warranty or just over 6k miles cover on them, even though i had reported this to them all the way back in January when the car was 4/5 months old and just covered 4k miles.
Do i just bite the bullet and pay for the pads and see if the grinding stops or should i escalate this further with Audi?
I have tried to be as detailed as possible in the explanation above and hope it all makes sense
Thanks guys.

Re: Front Pads
City driving does eat pads on cars like these - or any car for that matter. But a complete new set at 7K? It will probably fix the issue - at least for while - but you don't want to be doing that every 7K.

Re: Front Pads
Yes I agree Mark.
The thing is I had a q7 before this rs6 and a rs6 c5 before that and the pads lasted well over a year on them and the q7 was a heavy monster.
Where will be the best place to buy pads from? Audi have advised to get them and the work done from Jack barclay as they are looking at the issue.

Wow you must drive like a loon?norman1979 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 27, 2017 2:18 pmI need some new front pads after 11k miles. Are there any alternatives (OEM equivalent or better) that are out there?
I have only had my C7 for 6 months so I would prefer not to visit Audi every 6 months for a front pad change.
Re: Front Pads
I would stick wth dealer investigating the issue as you then have come back if it persists. But haggle on price as you are not happyalexrs6plus wrote: ↑Sun May 21, 2017 9:16 pmYes I agree Mark.

Thanks mark
I will do that then.

Re: Front Pads
My S6 is in at Jack Barclay now too - for squealing front brakes - they are cleaning up the discs and pads for me to see if it improves them.
