Officially on the hunt.....query on black / carbon optics

Post by E14STO » Sat Feb 18, 2017 7:27 pm

Hi,
Car has sold so officially in the hunt.
Interior options aside one of the most desirable options is no silver in the exterior (and even black rings if possible)

I don't want to pass over the right car if it's got silver/ alloy pack on it but I'm wondering how easy it is to convert.

I guess some parts can be swapped out, others wrapped, sprayed.

I'm thinking roof rails, window trim can be swapped out.
Front bumper looks like it might be tough to achieve

Any one took this on??

Mate is all very easy to sort for sensible money. Roof bars front grille window surrounds front splitter and side things all wrapped front rings black bought from Audi badges perfect fit same for rear rings and RS6 badge oops nearly forgot same for front `RS6 badge. I'll add a pic of mine so you can see👍

Roof rails need the roof lining to come down, someone told me it all has to down and need the interior trim removed to do this, someone else said you can just lower it to get at without having to remove it completey. Check with Falla as he has removed his roof rails to have them sprayed.
The rear bumper trim is apparently easy to remove; You just need to remove 3 bolts from underneath then prise it away from the bumper to release the clips. I tried this and bottle it as it felt like I was going to scratch the bumper.
The froont bumper is just a case of removing the bumper, similar to how you remove it on other Audis so wheels off, liners off or partially off and then unbolt bumper, then you can change grille and fron side flaps.
The front lip spoiler just needs a litte lbit of trim removed from underneath, can be done laying on the floor with the car jacked up.

Window trims look like they just clip off so easy to change, but I think they are very expensive to buy. Wrapping or spraying is probably a cheaper option.

For the price of the lip spoiler and front flaps and rear diffuer I'd personally go with genuine audi black parts rather than wrap.

Roof bars wrapped in place along with front grille front splitter window surrounds easy to unclip and wrap. Wrap every time for me much cheaper and when you sell the new owner has the option to remove if they wish. Come and have a look at mine if you're not too far away

Great stuff. Pleased with this response.

I did think the front bumper inserts looked like they might be impossible to wrap tbh and Thought the roof bars especially might not work with a wrap as you could see all the joins..
I've looked at some replacements and they are 400 quid to 1800 quid for carbon ones!

Roof lining does have to be dropped to remove switch then, same as in my old RS4's.

Would Consider replacing a few bits if cost was right and wrapping rest.
pW pro are close to me and they are v good

I paid a bit more than £140 but the fit was perfect as they carbon wrap a standard black OEM mirror cover which gives you all the connectors in the correct place👍

I got some OEM carbon ones for a decent price but the raywell ones look pretty good. They are easy enough to change over. Or you could wrap them. Wouldn't be hard; the B7 ones are hard to wrap but the C7 ones are only half the shell so much easier. Or spray them.

And you can wrap the roof bars with any joints, wouls be quite easy for a pro.

Thanks. Did you also do the side intakes in the front bumper?

Why didn't you do the grille and front splitter gloss to match the side flaps?
