So not sure I've got these spot on... but looks like
B8 A4 - 1610kg
B8 RS4 - 1795kg
B9 A4 - 1590kg
So they added weight before but now they need to reduce it for my dream to come true

It'll be a fat knacker that's for sure.
Look at GTR and NSX!

Re: What are people looking at next?
GTR doesn't do it for me at all...I get the attraction, and love seeing them around, but it's not for me...
Cayman GT4 is where my head is going just now...mostly as it could be a decent investment, given its current cult status.
but then I'd never drive the thing for fear of depreciation! still back to the drawing board...
My thoughts jsut now are definitely 2nd hand, and possibly wrap the car if the colour doesnt suit...bright purple anyone? ha

I meant look at GTR and NSX for weight.
GT4 could be a good call, but not as an investment.

Really? I think the gt4 is the 1m of the Porsche world. Won't necessary gain for a few years but won't drop.doodlebug wrote:I meant look at GTR and NSX for weight.

Looks like there's a GT4RS on the way, so that's one factor. They will drop....

Ah! makes sense now!doodlebug wrote:I meant look at GTR and NSX for weight.

to be honest, I'm never sure I'll be the lucky one to get in at the right point on an investment car...e.g. always wanted a mk2 phase 2 Clio V6, couldn't afford it when new, was buying first houses when affordable, and now wont pay 25k for it as i'm not sure there'll be much more in it...
I think my aim is lessen the impact of depreciation rather than gain form it... DK's link to the Jag is a good example here, let someone else take a hit, get a 2 year old car for c.50% of the price...
to be fair, this is all a nice problem to have...

I was reading that, and they'll be based on the 718...so more modern and then twice the hit.doodlebug wrote:Looks like there's a GT4RS on the way, so that's one factor. They will drop....
has anyone on here ever made money on a car? the closest i've come is on 2 occasions:
1. RS Clio 197 sold after 6 months for what I paid (so really i paid the interest on the finance for 6 months).
2. 1st B8 RS4, wrote it off and insurance paid out at list price...not list less deposit contribution.
Not your standard method of "making" money from cars...and i'd have preferred not to have melted the RS4 into a tree!

Re: What are people looking at next?
I sold my 1M after 12 months for £2000 more than I paid for it, which at the time was good. There was no sign of what would happen to their values, infact the market thought they were going to drop like stones after another 6 months of so.N13LXC wrote:has anyone on here ever made money on a car?
Hindsight is a wonderful thing, because I'd now be looking at a circa £20k profit!

'15 B8 RS4 - SOLD
Re: What are people looking at next?
Yes, the GT4 profit was only there for people who bought at list.doodlebug wrote:I meant look at GTR and NSX for weight.

I bought an E36 M3 with knackered suspension unseen off eBay for £4K. Rear too mounts had gone. £120 later it was a great car.
Sold it two years later for £5,900.

Re: What are people looking at next?

Regrettable sold my B7 Avant
But this is an amazing daily, fits the brats and haven't lost a cent in depreciation YET
Re: What are people looking at next?
Porsche gets my vote in pretty much any shape. I did have a couple of Macans out on test drives and might consider a Turbo next though not driven that model.
See a couple of 911s here. Very nice. Cayman GT4 would do very nicely if two seats is enough. Might be wrong but I see there prices holding firm
I have an ageing Boxster and it is a keeper. Easily my favourite car of all time. 'Enough' power, fantastic noise, beautiful to drive. Convertible when the weather is nice, hard top for the odd day it goes out in the winter
I also had a R35 GTR. Brutally fast and simply no fun to drive. Enjoyed the experience but no desire to own one again
