IIRC, only Cherished Numbers that have never been assigned to a vehicle can be managed fully online, you need to follow the regular procedure for any that have.

I bought 3 last year (one for the wife & one each for my 2 sons), but only the 2 for my sons which haven't ever been applied to a vehicle so are held on retention for up to 10yrs can still be assigned via the online portal, my Reg & the Wife's now can only be managed & changed via the regular procedure as have both been on vehicles previously.

I don't think that's right, Paul. I have been chopping and changing my plates recently and both plates have been previously assigned on different cars.

Not sure then. I definitely can't add my personal reg or my wife's personal reg to my DVLA account as am told 'they've already been assigned to a vehicle so can't be managed online'. But my son's can be managed online.

Is possible I could arrange a transfer of mine or my wife's reg online but not had to so I don't know for sure, but they defo can't be managed within my online account, only the 2 that have never been assigned to any vehicle can be managed online.

Thank you Mike. I remember reading that shocking.

Finally got an answer re my plate. It appears the dvla site has been having some problems the last few days. Hopefully will be sorted this week.
