Too much oil error

Post by gorun01 » Wed Jan 25, 2017 10:44 am

I got my oil changed in October and drove happily for a few months with no issues. Recently I got an error message saying that I've got too much oil and some needs to go out. Wonder if its the cold weather playing havoc with some sensor or if it is legit. Opened and closed bonnet to reset error but it came back a few days later. How come I did not get in the first two months after the oil change? Anyone with experience on the topic?!

There have been several reports of this before. Have a search, I can't remember how they cured it but it was something simple like taking the cap off and putting it back on or something like that.

I had this too. Cleaned cap out back on.

Will try the cap trick. Hope it helps. Thanks

Hope it is not the car mixing oil and fuel like someone on this forum had.

Had the same problem 1500 miles from home November last year only three weeks after major oil service carried out. Although they said it was safe to drive, took mine back to Dealer - their problem not mine. They cleared the fault and it's been fine ever since. No idea why It occurred though and again, no explanation from them either.
