Father in law dinged into my car....

Post by Nobby » Wed Jan 04, 2017 12:27 pm

Typical Christmas for me. All going swimmingly then a neighbour is useless at turning out of their driveway so asks us to move our cars temporarily to they she can get out. FiL reverses his car and manages to scuff straight across my front bumper

The damage couldve been much worse I suppose. If he'd been 2 inches closer he probably would have ripped my bumper clean off, but thankfully just the plastic from his arches scuffed above the number plate on my front bumper giving a scratch about 10 inches long. I'm pretty sure its gone down to the grey primer.

F**ks sake.....

When he said "sorry" (I assume he said sorry), I'd have just turned to him and said "That's ok, I'll be hammering your daughter's ass extra hard tonight".
No matter where you go, there you are.

FiL didn't think he'd hit my car initially, but he's said get it fixed and we can sort out monies later. I've no doubt he will give me the cash, its the pain of getting it fixed particularly as it had a new front bumper only 3 years ago and lovely paint (all via insurance company) when someone else hit me.

I'm gonna get a few quotes obviously. Not sure if its small enough to warrant a visit to smart repair place. Anyone had good reports from them? I'd be happy to remove the bumper if it means a better job.

Don't bother with smart repairs , I've never seen any that are good .they mask everything , so you'll end up with paint edges , overstay like over your grills , paint build up around parking sensors ect . Take it to a shop and get the bumper taken off and stripped . If you fancy a trip up to warrington I'll make sure it's done right
Cheers Al

Pic?

I've polished out scuffs before that looked pretty bad but were actually just superficial.
