Love the RS6 but have a 911 itch to scratch. Head turning service from Porsche, Audi have lost the plot.

I agree, they have lost the plot. I've had several follow up calls from dealers trying to sell me an RS6. I've mentioned that Audi's service in the UK is laughable - fobbing off with buckled wheels etc, which makes it impossible to go back to the brand. They feign concern, but I'm sure they don't give a monkey's. Shiny suited gob-shites.

Missing quattro though :-)

I have not been impressed by the situation of my RS6, brakes and wheels within 9000 miles.

I had a 911 bought new in Jan 16 sold it in Sept.

The service from Porsche was great but honestly I have never had an issue with Audi; I have a great relationship with the DP and his team and they have dealt with Audi issues the same way Porsche did with the minor things I had sorted on my 911.

Would not be a reason to move brand for me; the cars however are massively different. 911 5x faster point to point in real life but louder inside, harder ride, worse stereo, no room etc etc. Panamera until the newest one was FUGLY and not much different from an RS6 to drive.

I have only done 200 miles in my RS6 PE but love it and the quiet / smoothness on motorway is a relief after the noise in the 911 for my long commute.

However I will have to buy another 2 seater for weekends ;-)

I agree that the Audi dealerships are not that impressive; not helped by my local one being refurbished over the last year. Porsche dealers are great in comparison, and it is just relaxed there, perhaps because their sales people have the easiest jobs in the world!

That's not the reason I am considering selling the RS6 though. I don't even have buckled wheels (i think)! I'm just thinking of getting a second-hand FF.

Funny, wife and I both think RS6 is noisy, it's noisier than the Macan despite the double glazing. TTS rides better than RS6 on DRC and the latest tech in the 911 is better than the latest in the RS6. Panamera is a completely different kettle of fish. New car is superior to the RS6 in every way bar boot space and fifth seat.

I've never had an Audi dealer just hand me the keys for a test drive. Porsche don't bat an eye lid. Here are keys, sign there come back in a couple of days. I've used five different Audi dealers on sales and my local for service. Local is OK on service and hopeless on sales.

Crazy! My Audi dealer drops an R8 V10+ at my house on Friday, puts keys through the letter box and a man collects it Monday - same with anything else I want to play with. Porsche were great in East London but I found Colchester less helpful / friendly.

I think more to do with the people running them than the brand perhaps.

I bought my RS6 on Air (because I am getting old) but will buy either another 911, a McLaren or a DB11 next year for weekends, I keep looking around for a fun car but haven't pulled the trigger yet. For my commuting car I need to be able to hold a conference call for an hour, in the Q7 no problem, in the Aston no problem, in the RS6 no problem but the 911 was just too loud inside.

Colchester is my OPC, cannot fault them. I've found the Essex Audi group to be universally crap.

Not many Audi's I want to play with now, styling gone a bit to pot and then there's the service should you have an issue. See buckled wheels etc!

My local Audi dealer is poor also, but it must be hard for a dealer to have to deal with £5k cars and £100k cars, Porsche only have one type of clientele and thats one with money!

I had an RS3 when they first came out and it had the dreaded brake squeal, when a fix was finally announced and I took it in to the local Audi dealer to sort they told me it was the first one they had ever seen!

Sorry, Doodlebug, but I have to take you up on some of this:
Yours must be a different Macan to the one I drove; my RS6 is amazingly quiet at motorway speeds and overall much quieter than the Macan.
If you wanted a comfortable RS6 you could have had the air suspension. I did and it rides beautifully. You must have known that the DRC was the hardcore option so it's no surprise it doesn't ride like a limo.
The A6 is now a six year old package so it is no wonder the tech isn't looking competitive. New Porsche tech isn't that much different to facelift A6 and new A6 next year will completely trump everything from Porsche, including new Panamera.
Sorry to hear that your Audi dealer isn't so helpful - some are and some aren't in my experience, so I sympathise. As to Porsche, my local dealer is ready to hand over the keys but once the sale has gone through they are rubbish - in fact, they are pretty rubbish at the sales part, too, once the test drive is over. After two Porsches, we won't be going back to the brand as the local dealer makes it such a painful ownership experience.

Where's DK's fanboy GIF?!

Different strokes and all that.
More suspension and wheel configs for Macan so entirely possible you experienced as you did.

Not sure how you can say new A6 will trump anything else. Audi on a budget. Have you driven a new Panamera?

So, me not agreeing with you makes me an Audi fanboy? I own an RS6 and I am on an RS6 forum, so not sure where "different strokes" comes from, I thought we were all enjoying the same "RS6" stroke. If you're not, why not sell it?

Have you seen the Panamera MMI? The microsite for the car is promoting the capability to display Google Earth backgrounds on the nav screen as a 'new feature', so not that advanced compared to the RS6, after all.

In fact, the RS6 FL and new Panamera run the same generation MMI and use the same underlying architecture; Porsche got the system straight from the Audi parts bin. Next A6 will run the next gen MMI so I think my comment is justified. As to "Audi on a budget", that may be true if you are talking about an entry-level A6, but the RS6 has the high-level MMI and is directly comparable to the Porsche system.

Easy.....

Go and play with a Panamera and see if you think the same. I have, there's no comparison. Include R8 etc in that comparison.

Interested in the MMI hardware, any more info on that? As I understand it, the new PCM is very much unique to Porsche, there's no re-skin of Audi's MMI.

I am selling, two years, it's been good, but time to move on.

We have a brand new Macan Turbo in the family "fleet" and I can't say I'm overly impressed with with the new PCM system.

If it's the in car technology that you are after go look at a Tesla, a client of mine has a 90D and the tech is literally like a space ship!
