Keyless Entry
Keyless Entry
Can anyone tell me if the Keyless Entry is standard on the RS6. I have keyless go and kind of assumed the two went hand in hand.
The obvious has been tried and my car does not lock/unlock but something about safelock appears on the screen.
Excuse the vague question i have only had the car a few days and i am away from it at the minute.

Re: Keyless Entry
No. keyless go is standard, advanced key is optional.
Re: Keyless Entry
I did think that would be the case, however i have the squares etc on my door handles so maybe its not programmed.
Re: Keyless Entry
Seems unlikely. Check the spec list for your car.
Re: Keyless Entry
I also have the squares on my SQ5. No keyless nothing on mine.Y3CHR wrote:I did think that would be the case, however i have the squares etc on my door handles so maybe its not programmed.
Also the safelock on the MMi is related to the drive away locking function.

Re: Keyless Entry
All the RS6s come with the same door handles now. I didn't spec keyless entry but still have the same door handles.
Re: Keyless Entry
Cheers folks, pondering a few things and with being away from the car it was bugging me haha
Thanks for the feedback. Can't wait to get back and drive it.

Re: Keyless Entry
This is one of 'those' things that annoy me a bit with the RS6, I bought mine 2nd hand its a 2016 PE model with just about everything on, but the original owner didn't spec the advanced key, so I have to press the unlock etc on the fob all the time to lock & unlock. No its not a big issue, but when the other cars you have in the household all have it, when you are used to just keeping your keys in your pocket etc, it becomes a slight annoyance, and to be honest to have to spec it as an option on such a high range car in this era I find totally ridiculous, of course it should be standard at this level.
Re: Keyless Entry
You can retrofit it it if it bothers you. You already have the doors handles fitted.
Re: Keyless Entry
Safelocking is the Volkswagen terminology for deadlocking, which is the function that prevents the doors being opened from the inside of the car after it has been locked in order to prevent a burglar just breaking a window and operating a door handle to gain entry. The warning on the Driver Information Panel "Beware safelocking. Read operating manual" is to remind you not to leave children (or adults) in the car and then lock it as they would be unable to get out in the event of an emergency.
Re: Keyless Entry
I seem to remember speccing this at a bargain £750. Which is why so few have it

Re: Keyless Entry
Given it is part of the reason why Audis can be nicked so easily, i didn't spec it on purpose.
It's also not worth £750. Having said that, i have no idea why i went for power close doors as i've only ever used them to demonstrate the function. I have however three times in the last couple of weeks walked away with driver's door wide open!!
Luckily i always look back to check i have locked it (i.e. notice when the mirrors fold in).

Re: Keyless Entry
This is the reason I didn't spec it. I almost specced it because the package also allows you to close the boot with the remote but I found a way to do this for free with VCDS and also close the boot from the door button.robf wrote:Given it is part of the reason why Audis can be nicked so easily, i didn't spec it on purpose.
Re: Keyless Entry
Has anyone ever seen any evidence that the keyless entry system is more vulnerable to theft than the standard system? I haven't. I discussed this with an engineer responsible for vehicle security and they said there was no vulnerability arising from keyless entry compared to standard systems.
Re: Keyless Entry
Agreed. The car can only be stolen with the key(fob).wildbore wrote:Has anyone ever seen any evidence that the keyless entry system is more vulnerable to theft than the standard system? I haven't.
