Reconditioned from audi is around £ 1.200 , second hand one on ebeye gone for £ 500

but it can be done,with no harm to any other parts of the engine,right?No conflicts and other possible troubles....If it can be done,then i may just have myself a car!

If the chip is the actual problem, you could always just get a new chip fitted that isn't "encoded" rather than a whole new ecu, which should allow you to to use VAGCOM as well as being cheaper.

You could go back to standard or depending on the cars set up possibley get the same or a bit more out of it. I know what I would do.

I had the same VAGCOM problem from a old mapped chip and since it was remapped (and the chip was replaced) by MRC, VAGCOM works just fine.
