Sammyb349 wrote:Great on the annoying rattle - I have that and have been wondering how to fix it. Got some noob questions for you:

What does the vaccum hose do normally and what's the impact of plugging it (pro's vs cons)
What does DRL stand for?
Is there somewhere with the coding tutorials? I'd like the lights mods
What is the hidden menu - so so so intrigued!!
What is the interior light mod

The vacuum hoses closes the exhaust valves at certain gears / revs even when in Dynamic mode. Disconnecting means the exhaust valves are open all the time but leaving it unplugged will cause a vacuum leak in the rest of the system and cause. Other problems (lack of power).
DRL is daytime running lights. They are the ones that come on when your headlights are off.
Interior light mod is exactly that, changing the interior lights for better (brighter) ones.

It's been back for the sunroof creak tpi and is loas better now! Also i put some new air filters in, cleaned up the intakes and TB's and reset them via VCDS.

On the OE airfilters i hot glue gunned the gauze layer down around the edges to stop it lifing and <beep> getting in the paper and blocking it.

Good work.

I had the Sunroof TPI done on mine and the Tech wasn't happy that it cured my fault, so they then decided to fit a new panoramic sunroof frame which has now resolved the noise.

Nice bit of polishing there!

There seems to be a distinct lack of B8 build threads on here. With the first B8 now with a C7 RS6 engine in it I'd have hoped to see some mores threads.

I think I have the only b8. Was all thanks to Ross who I bought the car off. He spent ages with them developing it.

It's a work of art! It really is gorgeous.

My 996 is with them getting a new exhaust! I liked it that much :)

I'd love to hear it. I want a bit more volume, rasp at high revs and no 2-3k rpm drone

In sport there's minor drone at about 1,800. But... I've never actually noticed it in the real world because if I'm in sport, I'm not idling...

I'm at the ring this weekend; I'm sure I'll get a chance and will try and get picture in picture of the rev counter and the exhaust from outside. Might see if I can get a lap :)

I'd also like to get a shot of a drive by, I've no idea what it's like from the outside other than when my wife took it to the gym one morning and I'd left it on dynamic. Woke me up with a shock! Sounded awesome, better then the Lamborghini across the road...

It can make as much noise as it wants in sport with the valves open. Excited to see/hear it mate. Have a great trip
