0-60 times & Launch Control
0-60 times & Launch Control
Are the published 0-60 times based on launch control being used, or does launch control put it into a mental mode that's better than the advertised 3.7s (PE).
(Haven't been brave enough to try it yet - getting used to the handling before going for it!)

There's no real launch control. It basically holds revs a bit higher. It's not double clutch mental.

See how long you can hold it on brakes before something goes bang...

Re: 0-60 times & Launch Control
Nope, there's no control of the launch whatsoever. It will however hold optimum revs momentarily when the right foot is flat to the floor and the left foot is on the brake.robf wrote:So there IS a launch control function?
It is a very easy 'feature' to use in a standard car (Difficulty rating 2/10), the car will hold on the brake nicely for a few seconds before you need to let go of the brake pedal. In a mapped car, the difficulty rating increases to 9/10 and it's a right ball ache to get the brake to hold it at all, it just wants to nudge forward and a successful clean get away is difficult to achieve.

Re: 0-60 times & Launch Control
So why is there a counter for it in vaj-com?
Re: 0-60 times & Launch Control
It has launch but it's basically <beep>!
Re: 0-60 times & Launch Control
There isn't. Well I couldn't find it anyway. Couldn't find it on the RS3 either and that does have proper launch control.

Re: 0-60 times & Launch Control
Left foot braking just raises the revs to the stall rpm limit of the torque converter (TC) in the slush-box and it can be done on every slush-box automatic car in the world so it's not a proper "launch control".
For it to be a proper LC the revs would have to be higher too as the current TC stall speed of 2500rpm(ish) is too low and can bog down too easily so it should be higher, say around 4k as a guess.

Doesn't seem to struggle to get away based on this video (posted before)

Infact arguably better than Launch control!

Re: 0-60 times & Launch Control
OK, i tried it last night.
In normal driving modes it doesn't want to rev beyond about 1,500rpm but in Dynamic it is nearer the 3,000rpm mark. It doesn't seem to matter whether ESP/Traction as - due mine being faulty (because i've my suspension to static coilovers) - i couldn't turn it off anyway.
She certainly goes when you rev it out!
