Look at this knob

Post by kmpowell » Thu Sep 08, 2016 8:52 am

Can anybody shed any light on what gearknob is on this 2014 C7?

I've trawled through the old brochures, and there's no reference to an option being available at the time, so I can only assume it's added when the Heated Steering wheel option is selected?

Pre face lift had a choice of 2 knobs, this one or the nice one you get now as the only option. Some nutters actually chose to have this one instead of the round one.

I thought I'd read that on here somewhere, but I can't find any brochure that makes reference to it, so I'm not sure it's correct...

I never looked at the pre-facelift brochure as I only started looking after the facelift but doodlebug mentioned it on here.

There were several exclusive control options pre-FL, though I recall them all being leather/suede.

I have been tracking RS6 brochures since early 2014. I am fairly certain that that T-bar selector was the standard - and only - fitment on the first cars (2013?). By early 2014, the round knob was standard and there was no T-bar option.

I've got the original May 2013 brochure, golf ball was standard.

Option was 6F0 = Without decorative films / emblems

Option is still there for facelift cars and you will get this:

6FO refers to the steering wheel, not the gear knob...

1XT - 3-spoke leather multi-function Sports steering wheel – heated. Please note this option forces the removal of RS emblem on the steering wheel (6F0) £200.

Having done a bit more research, Doodlebug is right, I think I've found it...

YRB S3G - Audi exclusive controls package*. Includes steering wheel rim and selector lever in leather. Not available in combination with Audi exclusive leather steering wheel rim (YRH) £830.

So the original owner of the car paid a total of £1030 to have a heating steering wheel and a leather gear knob! Madness. :bash:

Thats odd, Im going off Etka where part number 4G2713139N is listed for the RS6 with a 6F0 option.
I would have thought if you're deleting emblems on the steering wheel, the gearknob emblem would also go. Which is as your original pic.

Given I now know where the car originates, I'm not surprised at the blatant disregard of spend on it. More info to follow...

Heated steering wheel on RS6 2016 still has RS6 emblem at bottom, just no flat bottom and obviously nice warm fingers in winter...
