IS IT WORTH IT????
[quote="TWH"]Now forgive me for asking an innocent question, but why should a bigger intercooler mean it takes longer to get the air into the cylinder? There's never going to be a vacuum in the air intake so air will always be available as instantly as with a smaller intercooler no?

Ah but here lies the problem, because there is a vacuum, the intake system still feeds through the intercoolers even when not on boost, so a bigger bag is going to take longer to fill with the same amount of puff being pushed in....... talk to any tuning company and they will explain it better I am sure, you also have to remember that the DV's dump boost which needs to be replaced too
God I hate not being able to express myself well in writing............frig it........tall stool time

i have owned my car for 2.5 years now and therefore know exactly how it feels through all the up grades i have had done. FMIC was fitted 3 months ago, there is noooo extra lag and in fact the boost seems to come in approx 100 rpm earlier and the car seems so much more alive through the entire rev range.
FMIC forever!

Question for you, have you done anything with the turbos through your upgrades or are they still bog standard. My experience comes from changing the i/c on my group B rally car, with the bigger i/c it developed a slightly longer lag, this was overcome with slightly larger compressor housing, final evo was 993 turbo with modified turbine wheel?stevesmee wrote: FMIC was fitted 3 months ago, there is noooo extra lag and in fact the boost seems to come in approx 100 rpm earlier and the car seems so much more alive through the entire rev range.

Here's a crazy one for you all then...
Why not disconnect the footwell vents from the aircon system and re-direct the flow down through pipes onto the ic's. When needed all you do is flick the floor vent button on the centre consol unit and set 'Lo' temp and a high fan speed. Hey presto, Bob's yer uncle!
