I've always sold my exhausts for between 50-70% of retail so 4 to 4.5k I would think. I would certainly have paid that for one in decent condition.anth8910 wrote:How much do you think the Akrapovic will be worth after a couple of years? £6300 here...

2nd hand value about £3k I would say. You're paying for the name first, the exhaust tone change 2nd. There's no performance benefit to the exhaust.
You can fit the full Milltek turbo back system for the same £3k and release 50hp and 100nm torque. The Akra in my opinion is just like the B&O option with Audi, both ridiculously priced and both offering little benefit. £6300 is a lot of money to be paying for Audio differences but each to their own.

Re: Exhaust options.
There are quite a lot of differences in construction not to mention the cost of titanium etc. I've had bad experiences with Millteks in the past on other cars although I don't think it's the case on the C7 from what I've heard. The Akra system retains the pulse reducing chambers of the OEM style system and has an X-pipe design and to me the exhaust note is just stunning and to me has made the car. Like you say to their own . If it was just down to cost you could get a custom system made with high flow cats for about 1200 quid which would be much the same as the Milltek.Leo-RS wrote:£6300 here...

Same here - had a Milltek before, and didn't think much of the quality. Took it off pretty quickly.
RS6 one might well be better now, but the Akra is a proper piece of kit - whether it's just acoustic kit or not.
Marginal cost difference is <£3k over a Milktek, so 3-4% of the cost of the car to get the best quality option, No brainer for me, personally.

Re: Exhaust options.
You are comparing a cat back akra to the price of a milltek turbo back system. The milltek cat back for comparison can be had for about £1.5k. You could buy 4 of them for the price of the akra if the quality was that bad.footsoldier wrote:Same here - had a Milltek before, and didn't think much of the quality. Took it off pretty quickly.

Re: Exhaust options.
The issues I've had in the past is them not fitting properly and starting to knock which drives me insane. Not that they call apart just seem to be thrown together without any proper development. You pay your money you take your choice at the end of the day but to me in a 90k car 5k for an exhaust isn't a massive amount when I can also take it off and sell it when the car goes at some point.MikeFish wrote:You are comparing a cat back akra to the price of a milltek turbo back system. Re: Exhaust options.
The guys I got the exhaust from asked if I could do a little video for them so thought I would share here. The one thing I have noticed with the Akra is the tone inside is quite different to outside the car. Inside quite smooth, high pitch. Noticeably louder but not intrusive at all - I have actually now disconnected the valves so always open so I can have the noise without pops and bangs when just cruising. Outside much more aggressive, deaper tone and quite loud

Re: Exhaust options.
So after living with my Milltek for the past month I've finally found the optimum setting for it, which basically means plenty of growl and burbles and no pops and bangs...
Simply go into Individual mode, switch exhaust sound to Dynamic, and Engine and Gearbox to comfort, job done, sound and for everyday.
Interstingly this suggests that it's an engine setting and not the exhaust itself that creates the pops and bangs, so whatever box you put on an RS6 it will make those noises. I'm not actually against them, when I'm driving it like I stole it its all good, just a bit embarrassing around town!

Re: Exhaust options.
Yes it's the dynamic engine option / sport mode that does it. Also deactivates the cylinder shutdown so always on 8 I think. As you have it the valves will close at low revs still even with dynamic sound. Also when you put on cruise control.

Yes it the engine management that creates the pops and bangs.bedlamater wrote:So after living with my Milltek for the past month I've finally found the optimum setting for it, which basically means plenty of growl and burbles and no pops and bangs...

The problem with that setting is that I find the throttle response a little dull in comfort.
Re: Exhaust options.
Cylinder shutdown happens in dynamic too. I've read somewhere that it doesnt but I've seen it come on in dynamic and with cruise on too.Andy_W wrote:Yes it's the dynamic engine option / sport mode that does it. I've not heard one yet but Plush Automotive have one on their RS6.anth8910 wrote:Nice, anyone got an opinion on capristo exhaust?Andy_W wrote:The guys I got the exhaust from asked if I could do a little video for them so thought I would share here.
