Yeah times might be hard for a few months/ next few years, but it's the big picture. The country has been getting worse and worse, we needed a change, let's see if this is the right way to go about it.
I've not spoken to anyone face to face who wanted to stay in.

In or Out...?

What the newspapers are guilty of, in my opinion, is stirring up negative sentiment around immigrants, and misrepresenting the facts.
Sorry, but got to disagree. You only have to open your eyes to see the facts.
You've been badly misled fella. :(

Just some of the nonsense that's been chucked around...

Immigrants are swamping the country
- There were 330k net migrants to the UK last year - a record, and sounds like a lot
- Only half were from within the EU, 184K.
- The government already has the ability to control the levels of non-EU migrants, through issuance of visas
- 184k was likely a peak number, cited as being due to the UK's economic outperformance vs Europe and high unemployment on the continent. However unemployment in Europe has fallen sharply, and is now down to about 8%. The EU has rebounded from recession and was growing at about 2%. Non-EU migration has not shown the same trend, and is lower than a decade ago.
- Over the last 10 years, average net migration from the EU is 107k; That's 0.16% of the UK population. 1 extra person for every 600

Immigrants are causing a huge strain on the NHS. I can't get a doctor's appointment
- As above, do you think 1 extra person per 600 is going to cause the massive issues in the NHS?
- Maybe, just maybe, it's more to do with harsher working conditions, and a 20% budget cut, thanks to the Tories?

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/po ... 51311.html

- Besides, 26% of NHS doctors, and 11% of all NHS staff are immigrants.

Immigrants are taking all the jobs

- UK unemployment is 5%. As low as it's been in a decade. And (was) falling

Immigrants are coming over here to take benefits

- That may have been in the case in the past, but overall EU migrants are statistically more likely to be in employment and less likely to be taking benefits, than us locals
- New rules mean an EU migrants have to be paying taxes for 4 years before they can claim in-work benefits.
- A UCL study found that EU immigrants had contributed a net £20bn to the economy over a 10 year period, taking into account taxes paid and benefits received. There is a further benefit in that the UK did not have to pay for the education of this workforce.

https://www.ucl.ac.uk/news/news-article ... mmigration

We can cut immigration by leaving the EU

- Leave have already come out and said immigration levels might not actually change
- In order to keep access to the common market, we have to allow free movement of people

http://www.theguardian.com/politics/201 ... s-spending

EDIT: Nearly forgot one of my favourites...

Immigration is about to go through the roof! Turkey are about to join the EU

- There are 35 criteria a country has to meet before being considered for accession to the EU
- Since Turkey began talks to join the EU, they have met precisely 1 out of those 35 criteria
- Any EU member state can veto. We could have, if Germany didn't beat us to it (they're very opposed to them joining)
- What they are close to meeting, are the requirements for visa free travel within Europe, excluding the UK. It doesn't include the UK as we have a separate visa policy

http://infacts.org/turkey-visa-free-tra ... astrophic/

Last point, the places in the UK with the highest level of immigration (e.g. London) voted remain, and those with the lowest level voted leave. Make of that what you will.

Maybe because most of them are not intitled to vote

I haven't gone on what's in the papers or on the news. As I said, I've used my eyes.
We all have our opinions and reasons.
All the stuff you've just posted could be made up, you're saying it isn't. You're also saying other stuff that's been written in the papers is incorrect.
It's happened now, wouldn't shock me if there's a re-vote. We all have to get on with life.

Which "them" and how is it relevant? :?

My neighbour has a German wife, been married a long time but she has never formally renounced her German citizenship or taken up British. No effects day to day but she doesn't get a vote.

It's not, the vote would be even stronger to stay in if all migrants have British citizen ship
Just thought I would throw some extra confusion into the mix

Every leave voter should have zero pride that Le Penn and her far right party is lording this vote and calling for a French referendum.

I hear her social media profile pics are (or have been) a Union flag. We are being held up as the example for all racist and neo-nazi parties across Europe. Wonderful. The rise of facism has never turned out well.
Sensibilities will prevail and modern politics will emerge What's important is the clean start, pretty much every political boundary and demographic will have to be readdressed, whether leavers or remainers. Any new political party has to listen to its people, all of them. This is a big wake up for voters AND political parties. This has been a long time coming. The EU is a dinosaur and this will be a wake up for them too, they'll need to reconsider their policies or risk backlash and further exits.

I'm most interested in all of the new laws and regs that will be drawn up, these will be applicable for the time we live in, while some markets and industries will diminish the new laws could create the frontier for Europe.
No matter where you go, there you are.

I voted to stay in as its best for my bussiness, i think there's a big number of people who don't have a clue about what's what apart from the migrant issues. Looks like quite a few are regretting their vote today.

nail on the head IMO

I also believe many many people voted Leave in pure ignorance of what they were actually voting for and the impact of it
