With older cars once you shut off the engine, the oil stopped circulating which could cause thermal shock to the turbo(s). Not a problem nowadays, where fluids are still pumped round after you switch off.

Was it the start stop that turned the engine off?

I have mine disabled but assumed if you were spanking it, it would stop the engine turning off by itself.

So no need to let them cool before turning off?
