First RS6 - quick question
First RS6 - quick question
Hello, put down a deposit on a 2014 c7 yesterday with 6000 miles and I am very excited to pick it up this upcoming weekend.
The pricing was good but as i'd never driven an RS6 before wasn't sure on how much better it would be compared to my e63. After the test drive I immediately said I'd take it as it was miles better than the e63 in terms of comfort, acceleration and smoothness.
Anyway I was wondering if there were any known issues I should be aware of? When I bought the e63 i was aware of the rough gear changing issue and some others small things.
Very excited to be apart of the community.
Thanks, G

I also had an E63. Lovely car. As you have said you will enjoy the RS6
Re: First RS6 - quick question
Thanks and yeah great car, loved the e63 just felt like it was missing something which turned out to be the quattro in the RS6.
Re: First RS6 - quick question
Congratulations.
Only foible I have discovered is tendency to tram line a bit over the crown of the road when accelerating hard to overtake. But if you can master a E63 under full power that won't bother you;)
Mine has noisy DRC - being fixed soon I hope - otherwise faultless. They are tough too.

Re: First RS6 - quick question
Welcome.
I ran an E63 estate with the 575bhp upgrade for 2 years and was surprised how much I enjoyed it.
I have been running an RS6PE for 3-4 months now and find it different but it has several advantages. I have not had any real negative feelings.
It is quieter cruising and has better phone and others electronics. Then again the E was getting on a bit.
The gearbox is light years ahead in the RS. The RS is faster everywhere. You may put this in the negative column if you are in the 6+point club !
I preferred the seats and driving position in the E63. I also prefer the nascar rumble. I have the sports exhaust but it is a bit naff. Also the plastic farts and pops out of the exhaust in dynamic mode seem a little kiddy. Fun at first but it wears off. The central silencer delete as discussed on another thread seems a likely mod.
The additional security of the Quattro drivetrain does allow you to push harder. I guess if it lets go you will not end up in a ditch as much as spread over a good bit of field ! Don't expect to wag the tail as you could easily do in the E63. It needs a different driving style.
It does feel a newer car in general than the E63 but a little more numb to drive at full tilt. You will enjoy it for certain. I am really enjoying the subtle but rapid effect it has. Turbo sofa estates are getting thin on the ground with all these SUVs.

Re: First RS6 - quick question
The dashboard and media interface in the E63 did indeed feel outdated and as soon as I sat in the RS6 i noticed the difference and was very impressed.
I also instantly felt the difference in the gearbox. On the E63 sometimes the downshifts into lower gears were quite rough, but on the RS6 I could hardly feel the gear changes. The only tell was the burble from the exhaust haha.
