Do orders come forward much?

Post by HDPete » Sat Jun 04, 2016 8:52 pm

My order was placed end of April and had an original date set for August. Orders were then on hold which gave me the opportunity to add Apple Car Play and HUD. I've now got a week 44 delivery (end of Oct).

Do orders get brought forward much, as time moves on?

It all depends. Mine did 5 weeks but everyone seems to have different experience

Mine was a non-exclusive colour which makes for a more predictable delivery schedule. It arrived a week or so ahead of expectation.

If you use the Audi tracker application then it is mostly visible as it goes through the factory stages as many others noticed. The last part (shipment) can be a little more variable but generally runs fine. I think the date provided allows a bit of slack for the UK distribution and dealer preparation. If you can get the dealer to jockey things then it happens more quickly.

Did it cost more to add Apple Car Play as my dealer has not been able to confirm if it is available yet and I can't see anything on the configuraror.

Thanks

Wow, that seems cheap to add Car Play. I wonder if it'll be possible to retro fit (mine arrived in March).

All the cars we've had in the last year or so have been spot on i.e 4 weeks after build date.

I ordered after all the facelift shambles had gone away. Ask Doodle or several others on here; thay waiting for ages. I was lucky with the timings, got max discount and was driving mine 8 weeks after ordering. Unfortunately, you've ordered at a bad time with MY changes afoot and that looks like potential delays. But you will benefit from all the MY changes so it's not all bad news.

Yep, it's a bad time to order as you're stuck in the middle of the PI update. I waited 12 months from original order to delivery because of PI so 4 and a bit months is pretty good in my book.

Yeah, I'm happy waiting.

Meanwhile, Just ordered a Range Rover Sport to replace the wife's Cayenne, so the Cayenne is my truck until it arrives. It's LPG converted so no big issues for guzzling the juice up and down the motorway. We weren't enamoured by the SQ7 in terms of price and blandness of styling. Plus it's too big for her. However, I think that the 48V electric compressor will be the next big thing in many cars to come.

I have a soft spot for the Cayenne. I nearly bought one a year ago and would prefer it over the RR or SQ7 (albeit the Cayenne Turbo or Turbo S in the older shape).

Ditto. Mate has RRS SVR. Sounds good, but the rest does nothing for me. It's a car that lives in Dubai.
