Seat covers.

Post by SimonR » Thu Jun 02, 2016 11:43 pm

I know it's sacrilege, but my lovely seats have a dirty sheen already.
I'm looking for well fitting seat covers. Has anyone come across any that don't look like a bin liner has been put on the seat? Any links much appreciated.

No need for that...just use Gliptone Leather cleaner and conditioner GT11 & GT12. About £12 from eBay. Cleans it up and restores it back to the matt finish.

What is the point in keeping them perfect for the next person?
Enjoy them and give them a clean now and then.
Anything is better than this... ;)

I agree with you all about covering the seats. I just don't want them ruined. I have seen several recommendations for gliptone so will give it ago. I had life shield applied and the inside done so I suppose even if they don't clean well, it's iver to them to sort and if they can't they will have to replace.
I'm quite concerned about the stitching though, that gets dirty too and im not sure it's covered or if it's possible to get it clean.

Use CIF cleaner, I cleaned my seats and the sh1t that comes off is incredible.
This is no joke. Use only a pea size amount on small area 6" in diameter on a ringed out rag then rinse and wipe off any residue.

A few years ago I bought a couple of covers for my RS4 bucket seats. I throw them over the seats if I'm working on the car in dirty clothes and need to move the car / test it round the block etc or maybe doing a tip run in dirty clothes to stop the seats getting filthy.
I got them off ebay and they came from somewhere in the Far East but there was no import duty or VAT applied by custom when they came in.
They looked like this but with the RS logo on the front.

Although they are designed for the RS buckets they fit the RS6 seats fairly well. Not perfect but they do the job. Also, as the RS buckets don't have airbags a cover isn't a problem but the RS6 seats have airbags so I'm not sure if the cover will prevent them from operating although I have seem some claiming to be airbag compatible.
