It seems like Michelin are the only tyre to be seen dead in for the generic forum bum boys , much like a Burberry hat to a chav.
No doubting they are good, but seriously there are still other very good tyre manufacturers!
I have Conti Sport Contacts on my XF S and I have Conti Force Contacts on my F-TYPE R and they are both fantastic tyres.
Good tyre deal....

Continental winter tyres are excellent, their performance tyres on the other hand were not so good from my previous experience.

I'm not sure Dave. The S3 had bridgestones on when I bought it, they were shocking. The RS6 had Pirellis on when I bought it, they were dangerous. Can't remember what the S4 had on when I got it (may actually have been conti's). Either way, they got changed quickly. No tyre i've had compares to any of the F1's I've replaced them with though.HYFR wrote:Have you tried the Conti's ?

As posted earlier, I have tried the Continentals, SuperSilent Contact5 285/30/R21 R01 and imo they do not suit the RS6C7. As I said I am no "driver" and also could not be described as a Chav [or sheep or a
I was just chucking my tuppence in about the sure-footedness , imo, of the MPSSs and that if anyone on here was thinking of new tyres that they were worthy of a look. I did some research before choosing to dump the contis (average 5mm of tread left) as I too like to accumulate money rather than spending it but the +£85k i paid for the car was looking like a waste of money in anything but a straight line.
So maybe non silent continentals in a different size and profile are a great tyre but trust me they are NOT "Super" like the Michelins are on an RS6C7
That said I still haven't the balls to try using lane assist again regardless of the boots it is wearing!

Re: Good tyre deal....
Unless anyone here is speaking of experience of having run the ContiSport Contact 5 tyre then really you are just sharing your experience of a different tyre made by the same manufacturer
Michelin also make other types of tyres that have different characteristics to the MPSS or Cup's
I just think it's foolish to tar something with the same brush and follow the crowd.
No denying MPSS/Cup are top of the game. But that doesn't automatically relegate their competitors are ditch finders

On the subject of the tyres mine has the Contisport contact 5p's and even though I am no driver I can feel that these boots are not very good. Squirming on lane changing under acceleration (not even heavy acceleration at times) inconsistent turn in etc etc.

Re: Good tyre deal....
Not intending to be rude, but this topic is all about Continental Contact5Ps as fitted to some RS6C7s, which means they come in the Contisilent variant and I am speaking from experience as are a few others that have chipped in. The only one infering that the entire Continental range is poor would appear to be you as I was on topic regarding the Contis fitted to the RS6C7.HYFR wrote:Unless anyone here is speaking of experience of having run the ContiSport Contact 5 tyre then really you are just sharing your experience of a different tyre made by the same manufacturer
I did not intend to imply that the entire range was poor, but I did state that I would never fit contis to any of my cars in future. I grew up watching the adverts of an Opel Kadett getting ragged around the roof of a building and not falling off and have purchased a few sets of contis in the past with those images in my mind. So I kinda feel cheated that they didn't come near the mark (imo) on the first real "performance" car I have owned.
I had concerns regarding their ability to upscale their tyre tech to 21" which now appears to have been vindicated as apparently every other size of Contact5 they make is the best tyre in the world! Additionally the internal foam's likely inability to allow the tyre gunk to actually seal a puncture is a crazy design (not unique to Continental) and could have left me and my family stranded (Hence RAC membership!). Audi also have a hand in this obviously, however Conti should mention this on their advertising blurb or actually do some testing and publish the results regarding the Gunk repair system and not just offer a PC statement about the "technologies complimenting each other"!
So yes I do feel kinda annoyed with Continental, I have missed out on 18months of sure-footedness on my RS6 and I am now the best part of £1200 lighter to improve the handling [not fully cured though]. Maybe the Contact6 that is on the way will eclipse the MPSS however I won't be the one doing the Beta testing in the real world for them!

Re: Good tyre deal....
How have you never been above 100 in an RS6?? I find that amazing. I mean, fair play in a way, you can't do it any old place but there are plenty of places you can.feeltheburn wrote: I don't think I have been over the "banned" speed limit in the car and don't drive it around the place like every otherin any Audi these days- so probably I am not worthy of the Car either as true RS people apparently thrash their RSs at every opportunity.
My post above ref the ''why do you own a C7 RS6?'' If you don't go fast or drive it fast, why do you own a C7 RS6, why not say, a diesel A6? You buy what you want if you have the money, but if you don't drive it fast then surely has to be just to say you own one, right?

Re: Good tyre deal....
I drive it quickly but not fast- there is a difference. I love acceleration and lateral G, which are available in abundance on the RS6 but the fun is over all too soon if you want to keep your licence.
As for why I have an RS6... I have been a VW/Audi fan boy all of my life- I grew up in a family with such cars. I have blindly coveted every evolution of RS branded cars (except the RSQ3- that is just pants as are any of the other SQ variants imo!). I was always drawn in particular to the RS6 and swore one day that I would have one....but just for me! I don't see a car as a trophy to lord over others- or as a "I have arrived" statement. I know that an RS6 is not a sports car [do you?] and for the money [or less] there are much more chuckable cars out there that, for anything other than in a straight line, would be hard to shake off (even for the driving gods!). But to me it is the car I always wanted, it makes me chuckle when I do push it, but just because it goes +160mph doesn't mean I have to. I know the car is quick so what would be the point of proving it to every tom DICK or harry that comes alongside who also have full knowledge of that? Different strokes for different folks- I have never been into the custom scene or those obsessed with horse power- I like what Quattro GmbH produce otherwise I'd buy something more to my liking in the first place!

Nah ya wouldn't Mike. If it had a 2L engine in you'd say boolaks too that!
It's either bought for the speed or bragging rights. It's a nice looker from the front but the rear is fuggly!

I've never been a fan of avants and the C7 is no exception, that butt is ugly. But it has grown on me. Maybe it's like kids and farts; you love your own no matter how bad they are.
