Re: ABS and ESP lights on
I looked into it. According to their website Audi use them to repair modules and they were recently mentioned by Honest John in the motoring section in the Telegraph on Sunday. Lets face it they are giving a lifetime guarantee so if it doesn't work you would just send it back.

Yeah, I'm more concerned about the practices of other repairers where, once you send it, they say it can't be repaired and you have to pay $$$ for a new one or pay $$ for them to send back your unrepaired unit.

Re: ABS and ESP lights on
I have read on other forums about this practice. I haven't used this company or have any connection with them but when I remove my module this is where I am going to send it so I will let you know what happens. My car isn't due its MOT til December so I'm not in a rush but I would like it done by AITP.

Don't forget that labour is about 6 hours from memory, so its not so simple and will be costly to remove it again if it doesn't work under warranty. I doubt the latter would cover removal....
Re: ABS and ESP lights on
How did you get them out after removing the bolt? Was it vice grips and pull and twist or another method?audi_driver79 wrote:My fault is still persisting and my speed sensors luckily came out easily. I really do think it's the ABS unit now on mine.
Re: ABS and ESP lights on
On a similar sensor, I used a wood chisel to tap in between the sensor and the carrier. Going all around it. Soak it in gasgas before hand.

No I just used the allen key and they slid out. I have heard they are a pain but in my 5 years of ownership I have never touched them but they slid out like a greased hooker at an arm wrestling contest.

Re: ABS and ESP lights on
My '6 has been at the garage since last Tuesday, simple service was no problem and they are putting a refurbished caliper on the back as I did the other side last year and now it's sticking. As far as I know they were sending the ABS module away as it's not communicating properly either to their guys or the ones I suggested. Just really hoping it's ready for AITP or I will be gutted...

Re: ABS and ESP lights on
I had this problem earlier in the year, i bought a second hand unit [e bay] , and sent it to my dealer for recoding,, £135 plus vat for the time spent, and i paid @ £130 for the unit, might be worth a punt , i did also send off my original unit for repair but it would still not communicate , hope your repair works out.
I would say that my local garage, who have the correct kit still advised it to go to the dealer for the recoding.

Re: ABS and ESP lights on
Picked car up today just in time as I had expected to be going in my A6. I don't know the full story but 3 faults were found and the module didn't need to be reprogrammed so just plugged straight back in saving time!

Great news

Re: ABS and ESP lights on
So now you've had it back for a few days is it cured? What did it cost to get sorted all in?audi_driver79 wrote:Picked car up today just in time as I had expected to be going in my A6. Re: ABS and ESP lights on
Not sure yet as the head mechanic is on hols. There does seem to be a slight vibration from the left hand side still which I attributed to the ABS but obviously that is still there. Maybe I have a flat spot but anyway there are no warning lights so ABS is working ok. Will give you more info when I know.

Re: ABS and ESP lights on
So today I had some time to look at this again.
Fault is still intermitent but seems to be able to be triggered by moving the bunch of wires going to the connector in the following photos. Any ideas whether this means it's the wiring rather than the unit?
Also is there any point changing the wheel sensor that is showing as a fault if the wiring at this end seems to be involved?
Lastly if all else fails are MRC likely to be experienced in this kind of issue?
