ABT

Post by Andy_W » Fri May 20, 2016 3:39 pm

Obviously there has been a lot of coverage of ABT's RS6-R lately which has got me into researching a few options for mine.

I really like the new style 22" wheels. Reading the reviews it doesn't seem to effect the ride noticeably and they fill out the arches well. Price with tyres is under £5k which isnt bad compared with quotes I have had int he past for Brabus, ADV1 etc wheels. Adjustable height lowered suspension fitted including 4 wheel alignment £1100. Now the more expensive bit and arguably the most important - the engine tuning module - £4.5k - c 4x the cost of MRC etc. It does have a couple of nice advantages, first it doesn't touch the factory ECU code at all and is completely removable, it doesn't do anything until the car is up temperature etc. ABT include an additional warranty cover that covers anything that Audi would try to wiggle out of if it came to it. With the exhaust output is 700HP, 880NM which also seems a valid claim from what I have seen. It is a lot of money compared to the other options out there but one thing that does seem apparent is ABT cars to seem to fetch more money used (although I guess a smaller market) and from that perspective starts to make more sense.

ABT have a long standing relationship with Audi Germany which makes them a bit like Brabus, Alpina etc I guess although no formal ties in the UK like the others. I know many will think that x can produce more power for x money etc. etc. but my thoughts are a ABT's day is something quite cool?

Just thoughts for now though!

Funnily enough there's an ABT badged car on AUC.

It's an ex-AudiUK Ox plate car.

Guessing it's a engine module as no exterior bits. Interesting to see if Audi are selling it as is with their warranty.

I wouldn't be interested in any of the body kit. Personally I love the wheels but I also quite like the standard 21s in Black. They just don't fill the arches well without spacers

The wheels look OK; certainly a lot nicer than the other ones ABT do!

For me, getting an additional 100bhp for £4.5k is not that bad value, it just is when you consider you can get a remap for the same power for no where near that! In reality, you're paying for insurance then rather than simply the modification. A tough call, but i don't see the RS6 needing more power than stock so not a decision i need to make!
